Watto's shop

You trace your steps back to Watto's junk shop. A lot has changed since you were here almost 10 years ago. It seemed as if Watto was making good money from the junk business and the **** trade he was involved in. You arrive to his shop and stop outside it.

Lana: This place brings up some memories...

Aalya: Yes, quite awkward ones, to tell the truth.

Lana: I was going to say the same... I remember Anakin's mother remaining in captivity, even after he was taken by Qui-Gon. What was her name...? She Skywalker...? Zmi...?

Aalya: I think it was Shmi.

Lana: Yes, that's right! Shmi! I wonder what has happened to her since...

Aalya: Apparently, we both know what has happened to her after Anakin was taken away from Watto...

Lana: Yes, poor Shmi... Watto unleashed all his anger onto her...

Aalya: Yes, but maybe parading her through the streets naked was too much. I don't know how that is even possible to be done without having anybody standing up against it!

Following Anakin's departure, Shmi had to work double time to cover the loss of workforce, or simply, earn extra in other ways...

Lana (thinking): Well, running up and down the streets naked is not so hard to do, I guess...

Aalya: But we didn't stand up to him either...

Lana: We were young and master Quinlan told us both not to engage him!

Aalya: I know that we had no authority to act in any way, but still... Unfortunate Shmi had to suffer a lot under Watto after he was deprived of Anakin. She was even **** to work as a sexslave in countless cantinas to make up for the money Watto lost...

Lana: Maybe we could free her now...!

Aayla: What are you...? Wait... That's not a bad idea at all Lana!

Lana: Thank you, my ideas are usually unappreciated!

Aayla: I have just happened to accidentally overhear Anakin talking to Master Yoda about nightmares concerning her mother a year ago. He said he had felt her suffering through the ****... Yet, he was prohibited to come and find her, as ordinary Jedi can rarely ever meet any of their relatives.

Lana: Except us!

Aayla: Maybe we could help Anakin by freeing his mother and telling him the good news. It would do him some good, I am sure of it. And it would make it nearly impossible for him to come and look for her, should she ever defy the will of the council as he usually does!

Lana: Yes, he is an expert on that field!

Aalya: Yet, it was the will of the **** to make him a Jedi.

Lana: With some help...

Aalya: Of course, he wasn't just being freed without any interference. As we could both feel the **** push Qui-Gon did on the dice when he was gambling for Anakin's future.

Lana: Aand not just that time...

Aayla: Oh, you mean...?

Lana: Yes, Padmé too was doing her part to free Anakin!

Padmé had to persuade Watto "diplomatically", to agree to the bet about the podracing, so that Qui-Gon can arrange for the freedom of Anakin

Aayla: I still can't believe what she did just to arrange the deal...!

Lana: She did what she felt was right and necessary. Qui-Gon couldn't convince Watto with the ****, they didn't have money, so he had to be persuaded otherwise to agree to the bet concerning his favourite ****. In the end, it all turned out good, didn't it?

Aayla: Yes, but back then, it didn't seem like a good idea at all! Glad we left it all to unfold and just kept peeking from the window. But back to the matter at hand... Let's go inside and find Shmi!

You enter the shop, Watto is busy repairing a broken assistance droid.

Watto: Don't you see we are closed for today you...?!

He notices your lightsabers and drops the tools he was using.

Watto: Jedi! It wasn't me I swear! I had nothing to do with any of that mess!

Aayla: We only came here to...

Watto: No, no, Bendiku isn't here, but he is the only one responsible! Take **** on him, not me! I promise to compensate the family of the man, that is how Watto does things, just ask anybody, they will tell you!

Aayla: Look, we don't want to...

Watto: I swear, I had no idea they were going to kill him, alright?! At least not that long before they did, but...

Aayla: We aren't here because of that business with this "Bendiku"...

Watto: Ooooh... In that case... Wait, no, I had nothing to do with that Black Sun thing either! I am not hiding any of them at the back stockpile of the shop, no need to check it! I have never been hiding criminals here in my entire life...! Alright, maybe I did, but not recently...! At least, not this week...!

Lana: Look, we don't CARE! We are here to find Shmi Skywalker, your **** woman.

Watto: Indeed?! Shmi, huh...?

Aayla: Khm... Do you still own that woman? If so, we would like to purchase her from you.

Watto: Look Jedi, the thing is, I don't have her... It has been years since I sold her...

Lana: Years?

Watto: Yes, I lost her on a bet, just like her son... He came here looking for her too, but never came back to tell me if he found her!

Aalya: What? Anakin was here? The council definitely prohibited him from visiting!

Lana: Are you surprised...?

Aayla: Now that you say, no, not at all... When did he pass by?

Watto: It must have been a year or two since... I told him the man who won Shmi from me took him to his moisture farm. His name was Lars something... I can give you the address.

Aayla: That would be much appreciated, thank you.

Watto: If you see Anakin, tell him I could use his help with some debt business nearby...

Lana: I doubt he would come and help you out!

Watto: Ah, you are right, forget it... And... I didn't tell you anything about the Black Sun pirates or Bendiku if anybody asks!

Aayla: Come Lana, we have a moisture farm to visit.
