Warforged

Despite being mostly mechanical in construction, warforged have a soul of a humanoid contained within a gem implanted in their chest. Their bodies are powered and controlled by the soul gem. Healing magic is converted by the soul gem into energy that powers the self-repair system. Warforged do not need repertory or digestive systems but their mechanical construction moves a human’s skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems, including a brain and central nervous system. Their brain can be programmed to work independently of the soul gem. This creates a warforged that is closed off to its soul gem, relying on it only for power. These warforged are called sleeping warforged, although slave warforged would be a better name, as they can be programmed to obey orders from another humanoid. Wakened warforged are aware of and controlled by their soul gem, but can rely on learned programs to complete repeat tasks faster than their soul gem could perform. Their soul gem draws power from its surroundings, with 1 hour of inactivity recharging 2 hours of activity.
