Chapter 9 by brevdravis brevdravis

Up ahead...

Want me to break something else?

"I must admit your collection here is marvelous," Ketsueki spoke to the small man being held between Gumai and another of her thugs. The hands on the shoulder were more than enough to make the point, and the cloaked figure wasn't going to go anywhere. The robe was a strange selection for a flower seller, she thought, taking in the blank black cloth. No tattoos, no marks, no symbols, just the cloak and the plainest clothes she'd ever seen. "Especially considering that it seems to be the only thing about you that doesn't fit."

"I'm sorry, miss..." Began the small proprietor, his wide pale eyes and tousled black hair seeming almost too generic. The man didn't FIT anywhere, which was what was bothering Ketsueki. Oni magic was everywhere in the place. She could smell it. "But I have no idea what you're talking about. These flowers are merely a small sample of the wares that our company hopes to provide..."

"Gumai, does this man smell to you?" Ketsueki interrupted the hooded man, who became instantly silent as Ketsueki brushed her hair from her head, revealing the elegant curve of her solitary horn. Gumai shrugged his shoulders and grunted. She loved it when the thugs remembered their lines. "Because he smells like... hmmm, I smell hay... maybe a little corn."

"Miss?" Inquired the proprietor again, his gaze flipping to to the shattered door that Ketsueki had thoughtfully opened with her Kanbo, before explaining patiently that she had no intention of killing anybody today. But of course, intentions and actions are often two different things.

"Soybean, definitely... " Ketsueki leaned closer, sniffing closely. "Maybe some oatmeal. But that does make it official."

Ketsueki spun on the ball of one of her elegantly crafted shoes. It helped to have monster girls who had leatherworking talent on the payroll, after all. All sorts of things got made for the clan. Some were far more fun than others, she reflected with a smile, but hopefully this guy would crack soon. She was still in the opening gambits, after all. She took several perfect steps, before swinging the large metal club she carried up to sit across her shoulders. The sleeveless jacket and tattoos just improved the intimidation factor, and she recalled many a fond night with Wardell getting the exact cock of the hips right.

"I smell... Bullshit," Ketsueki grinned feral at the robed man, whose eyes went wide with fear. "So, you can tell me why you're using Oni magic, or I can try another couple doors for practice before I start on you. And it's Ma'am. If I'm going to be working on someone, I would at least expect them to get my title right."

"Mis... Ma'am, It's just a wonderful enhancement for discerning women such as yourself. As a married woman clearly you would benefit..." The robed man started talking fast. Ketsueki paid no attention to his words, instead focusing on the body language and the directions he was glancing. Over her shoulder... upstairs...

"Yeah, that's enough... " Ketsueki stopped the obvious sales pitch with a smile. "Perhaps you'd like to show me a sample of this product."

"Of course, Ma'am, Of course!" Ketsueki immediately knew something was wrong. He was way too excited to be showing her this. She noted that the man had immediately reached into a pocket that lay beneath the cloak and was holding something tightly. "Let me just say what a PLEASURE it is to be doing business with you."

"Maybe in a bit... tell me a bit more first..." She dropped the end of the metal club onto the wooden floor of the shop, where several splinters of wood immediately exploded forth from the impact. Maybe that might make the point a little better than her sweet smile.

Monster Girl Fight incoming!
