Chapter 1100 by Fiftyfiftyfifty Fiftyfiftyfifty

What do you do?

Walk with Ealdorman.

The wizard escorts you into another room. This one is smaller, but it's absolutely gorgeous--not the room itself, but the view. You're led to a sitting area with a huge window overseeing a grassy cliffside leading down into a gorgeous, bright blue ocean which looks to go on forever. There are potted plants all around you, and a bench in the perfect place to sit back and just stare out at the horizon. The sun shines down over the surface of the mostly calm water--small waves causing it to glisten, and to provide a relaxing white noise of water crashing up against the bottom of the cliff. Ealdorman steps right to the edge of the window and stares out before turning back to you.

"This world is amazing, Kyle. Don't you agree?"

"It definitely is."

"I meant what I said in the other room. You're also a treasure from Earth. And no, I don't mean that in the way where I want to lock you up in a display. What I'm trying to say is you're not alone."

"What do you mean?"

He swings out his arms and smiles wide. "Naturally, you aren't the only one in Abso from another world, Kyle! My real name is Isaac Hawkins. I was born in London, but when I was very young, my family moved to New York City. I was in my thirties when I disappeared. Little did people know, but I didn't die. Instead, I appeared in this strange, amazing world. That was over fifty years ago now. My story is far too long to tell. But now I'm here, a Chairmen of the Circle, and just like I always dreamed, I'm a powerful wizard!"

"No way. I've only met one other person from Earth. I didn't even really think about meeting more."

"There could be others walking among us right this very moment! You say one other. Then perhaps my suspicions were correct. Two strange men, appearing from nowhere, both becoming Demon King in different places. Am I correct then in thinking William Cresswell is from Earth as well?"

"That's right."

"Outstanding! You're far easier to contact. That William is much more reserved and aloof."

"How did you get this far? I was told humans from Earth couldn't have classes, or even mana."

"That's the story too long to tell, Kyle. Just know that everybody who came here from Earth had an entirely different journey. I understand your curiosity, however. I also wish to hear of things that happened on Earth after my departure. There are objects I've found that even I don't recognize. I've simply deduced where they're from. Here, follow me back to the other room. It's on the way to the portal anyhow."

The two of you walk back to the museum of Earthly items and he gestures a hand towards a nearby case. "Like this," he says with a hand towards a smartphone. "It looks like a tiny television."

"Oh my god," you say with your hand on the glass. "Wait. Does it work?"

"I've dared not mess too much with the treasures I've procured."

"I know we don't have the infrastructure to make a lot of technology from Earth work properly, but could you imagine what would happen if we at least found a way to magically charge batteries without destroying them? This thing looks like it's in good condition. It might even still turn on."

"Hmm. I'll tell you what." He opens up one of the displays. Between his fingers, he pinches a rechargeable AA battery. "If you and your allies can figure out a way to workshop this, then I'll let you try it on something far more precious, such as that tiny TV."

"It's a phone."

"What? How does that work?"

"All right. I guess we do both have way too much to explain to each other." You take the battery in your hand and look it over. "Thanks, Isaac."

With a wink he says, "Ealdorman is what I prefer nowadays. I'm not the same man I was on Earth."

"Thanks, Ealdorman. For all of this. And for not being the perverted old man character stereotype."

The old man lets out a booming laugh. "Those sort of things don't interest me. Now come. Let's get you back to your friends. It seems they're the type to worry quite a bit."
