Chapter 5 by Blackhand Blackhand

How does Kazex approach them?

Wait Until He's Sure They're Lost

Kazex made extra sure that he wasn't caught after seeing what they did to the Khras-Bogna. He couldn't breed them if he were dead!

Trailing his prey proved a bounty of information. One thing he caught on to was some strange relationship between the two. The metal human seemed like the leader. She was always moving first, or pointing the direction to go. Though, not well, because she sent them moving the wrong way multiple times in a space of only hours.

Yet, while she was the chief of the two, the silver haired human didn't treat her as chief. She should have offered tokens of submission and service. Yet, the other human was always offering her food first. Or else taking actions to aid her. At one point, when they had grown more tired, the human in metal let her companion ride on her back briefly. Afterwards, they had set up camp together.

Kazex grumbled with confusion. Perhaps it was a mother and spawn? In other beasts, the mother creature protects and serves its spawn, even while the spawn acquiesces to the power of the mother. And humans were similar. Yet, if that were true, the metal human would be older. Less ripe for breeding. There was much Kazex didn't understand about humans. But, he had been among broodmares long enough to tell an aged female from a fresh one. Both were fresh.

This strange dynamic continued at the campfire. The human female in metal cooked for the both, while the smaller female was allowed to sit, clutching scraps of leather and paper. From contact with the odd human raider, he believed it was a "book". A device for containing human knowledge.

At least, after having seen all he did, the strange lack of security at their campfire no longer confused him. Their fire would be visible to all manner of predators. But, what would two females of such power have to fear from predators?

Kazex put his scheming little mind to work on this fact. Perhaps this was a blessing? Would creatures of such power see him as a threat? They might be less quick to harm him. Especially if he was alone...

The little goblin waited until the one of the humans fell asleep. The other remained on watch, foiling any notion of a quick capture while they were ****. Eventually, he fell too succumbed to sleep. In his dreams, he had already succeeded, and he was in a paradise where he could use the bodies of his new broodmares however he pleased.

He woke in the morning after the females had already broken camp and continued. But, he had no trouble catching up to them. The silly creatures had gotten lost again.

Now that it was broad daylight, and now that he had gained some more knowledge about his future broodmares, there was little point delaying his move much further.

Kazex waiting until they were in the middle of a large clearing. Somewhere they would not be easily spooked. Then, he emerged from the foliage.

"Hullo!?" Kazex called out, loudly. He walked slowly towards them, his hands empty. "Iz humanz! Waz you doin' in dis place!?"

He only made it a few steps before his eyes were blinded by a flash of gleaming light. The metal-wearing human's weapon was aimed straight at his face. It left him so close that he could see the threatening, predatory scowl on her face. Kazex gulped. Was he about to die?

How do the two human women respond to Kazex?
