Virtual Unreality

Reed Richards and others had long known of the existence of other universes, divergent timelines which had branched off from some decision-point in the timeline. Dimensional viewers were not uncommon among those who experimented with technologies, who explored the full vastness of time and infinity.

Yet Doctor Doom had gone one step further.

The Virtual Unreality device allowed the user to skim through simulations of the alternate timelines using a simple search interface. Mysterio could spend hours picking through alternate Sue Storms, finding the versions of herself that existed in potential branches—and even bring artifacts like those photos from the virtual reality into physical existence here.

What Doom had not told Mysterio was the cost. When the virtual was made real, those possibilities were incorporated into the existing timeline. Doom had secured himself against the inevitable changes to history that resulted, he could remember each shift as the world remade itself to incorporate the erotic possibilities that Mysterio sought. The fool imagined that he was uncovering elements of Sue Storm's hidden past, when in fact the villain was remaking her to fit his own twisted vision of the cheating slut he imagined the Invisible Woman to be.

A dangerous technology. Mysterio could, all unknowingly, bring forth a reality where Sue Storm never had her children; or through his unknowing machinations, make her a cosmic entity. The Fantastic Four's colorful history was such that he could easily imagine her in a thousand different journeys into the Negative Zone, each more improbable and sex-filled than the last.

From a distance, Doom monitored Mysterio's searches through Virtual Unreality. The illusionist had the mind of a mad director, imagining the world dancing to his whims. A master manipulator who yet did not understand the forces he played with. Through his art, he imagined he showed the audience the truth that the Invisible Woman fain would hide.

Doom knew better. It was Mysterio's own perversions that drove him. As the search terms grew more baroque and explicit, Doom could imagine the fool tapping at the keyboard one-handed, lost in the fantasy he was unknowingly making reality.

"If he ever discovers what the device is truly capable of," Doom muttered to himself. "Then I shall have to destroy him."

On the screen, the Latverian monarch saw that Mysterio had located the simulated reality where Sue Storm had made a sex tape...and was now bringing it from unreality into existence.

In a moment, Sue Storm's personal history changed.
