Chapter 6 by Decadent Empire Decadent Empire

What is your first destination?

Velberg

Before leaving Avaria, you need to stock up on provisions for what promises to be a long journey. You make your way to Velberg, a small town which you have visited a number of times. There you hope to buy stores, and perhaps increase your band by a few members.

As it stand now, there are only eight of you. Besides yourself you have Dylan and Forde, two young men-at-arms who wished to make their fortunes with you. Barley, your group's cook driving the wagon full of the supplies. Barley isn't his real name, but he has gone by it so long, you don't remember his real name. You doubt he remembers either. Next to him is your bookeeper, a mage school dropout named Cawse. Although intelligent and knowledgeable, his small magical talent wasn't enough to secure him a spot amongst the sorcerers. The other team of horses are driven by Ansel, a thin man with a mustache who came from Travis along with the carriage he is driving. The last two members came from your father's dungeons. They were given the choice between punishment or servitude, and know are a part of your band. Weylan was caught poaching your father's deer, and the only thing that saved him from the gallows was his skill as an archer and a tracker. The final member was a thief known as Pietro, as skilled with lock picking and pick pocketing as he is with knives.

Given your current task, you wouldn't be amiss hiring some extra muscle, or some women to keep you company and lure unsuspecting girls into a trap. If you found the right person, you might even take on a squire. With that in mind you make your way to a tavern, where you hope to find a local who can direct you to where you can find all the things you need.

Before you can reach your destination, however, a young man bursts forth from the door of what looks like a cobbler's shop and stumbles out onto the street and directly into Forde. Forde, being a man of short temper, curses and draws his sword with a murderous look on his face. The young man puts up his hands and says, "I'm sorry! Can you please just forget this happened!" To the shock of your entire group, Forde stops and sheathes his sword, almost seeming confused that he even drew it. The young man rushes off, followed closely by a young, raven haired woman wearing two strips of fabric that barely pass as clothing.

Dylan elbows Forde in the side. "You're just going to let that go?" he says incredulously.

"Let what go?" is Forde's confused reply. Dylan shrugs and drops the subject. How curious. The rest of your trip to the tavern goes along without consequence, and before long you have your group split, gathering supplies. You remain at the tavern and notice the young man from earlier sitting in a dark corner, drinking a beer while the young woman has her arm wrapped around him, seemingly consoling him. The woman is surprisingly clean, given her youthful beauty, large chest, and scant outfit.

When you approach the two, the young man starts and spills his drink when he recognizes you from your earlier encounter. He goes to stand up and opens his mouth to speak, so you wave a hand, "Please, sit down." He slumps back down into his chair and eyes you fearfully while the young woman looks at you with curiosity and lust. "What's your name?" you ask.

"Jordan Farcourt, sir, and this is my mother Molly."

"Mother? But she looks younger than you?"

The woman smiles, "You're so sweet, but it's true. In a way." Now you are even more intrigued. You know something was different about this young man.

You take a good look at the boy. "I knew something was odd when Forde put away his sword. He isn't the forgive and forget type, and yet he let you go with barely a word. Then I find you here, sitting next to a gorgeous, busty woman who has been in a busy tavern for an hour without a drop of cum on her. And now you tell me she is your mother. Perhaps you would like to tell me what is going on here."

Jordan hesitates. Clearly he doesn't fully understand what's happening either and it has him terrified. He starts off slow, but as soon as he starts telling his story, the words come gushing out like a waterfall, like he was both scared of anyone knowing whats going on but **** to confide in someone at the same time. He explains how his mother was enchanted to be his town's plaything, able to altered by any man within a stone throw's distance and how he seemed to be able to alter her faster than should have been possible, and how he sought to reverse the process, and how he went too far. He told you about the mental message he heard from what could only have been a powerful sorcerer. He talked about how people started obeying his strongest wishes, such as not killing him in the street, or leaving him and his mother in peace while he drank. He finished his story, nearly breathless, he said, "And I think they will send someone after me, or my mom, or both of us. I don't know what to do..."

You consider things for a moment. Clearly the boy has massive untapped potential, and having a sorcerer, especially a mind sorcerer on your side would be a massive boon. On the other hand, it wouldn't suit you to be on the wrong side of the sorcerers running the kingdom. "Well, I might be able to help you. My band is set to travel outside the borders of our kingdom, beyond the reach of any who would seek you out. I also have a failed sorcerers apprentice who could teach you the basics, and I do have need of a new squire. However, to take you on could be an incredible risk to me..."

"Please, sir," Jordan begged you. "Take me with you. I promise I can be a great squire to you and I can repair your mens' boots whenever they are damaged. And take my mother as well, she can clean and sew, and I don't know what kind of experiments they will want to run on her if she is left behind."

Do you take the boy and his mother or just one or neither?
