Chapter 26 by OccasionalReader OccasionalReader

Do you decide to pry deeper about any subjects?

Vampiric religion

"In the play, it was implied that vampires worship one of the Fates. That at all accurate?"

"{if tempAlpha = true}Ya{else}Absolutely{endif}. Most of us anyways; I worship Tyche{if tempAlpha = true} myself{else}, personally, like many actresses{endif}."

"Why the conversion?"{if tempAlpha = true}

She laughs. "And why not? Not like worshipping the Fates does fuck all. Doesn't alter Lachesis's weaving or Atropos's snipping. And I don't think any of us really care about the spinning."

You stand there a bit speechless, clearly not having expected the raw emotion (even though in hindsight, you likely should have, given that she's drunk). In time though, you recover. "So the rest of the vampires, why do they still worship the Fates then?"

"Stupidity. And a bit of tradition. They think that praying to the Fates will alter theirs. How they can when we're dying left and right, I dunno. Probably stupidity." She pauses, lost in thought through the haze of ****. "Although, most of them do worship Atropos. Maybe they're just hoping their **** will be gentle? I dunno, all I know is it's a bunch of bunk."{else}

She pauses, and lets out a deep sigh. "Guess I just don't see the point in worshipping the Fates when we die so much. If we can't even live out our natural lifespan, what's the point? Most of them worship Atropos, though, probably in vain." "Credit where credit's due, though. The funerals are something else."

You raise your eyebrows, questioningly. "How so?"

"You'd have to see one, but long story short the proceedings get really in depth, and have these super complex rites. Can't even begin to describe them. Maybe if I had paid more attention when my mom was explaining it to me." She bites her lip to one side, her right canine sticking out, leaving a rather odd picture in your mind.

"So what drove you to Tyche then?"

She shrugs, "easier to go from one goddess to another, I suppose. Plus, do you even know how many things can go wrong in a play?" You shake your head; no you don't. "Sooo much. This one time the sun fell mid performance. Orelia, poor thing, had to come up on the spot with an explanation for why the sun had come to the ground."

"Orelia?"

"Oh, sorry; I forgot to say — she's the actress playing the princess."

Huh, well guess that explains that.{endif}

What's next?
