Chapter 13
by Bruhdashcon
What is your goal?
Use your bloodhound skill.
"...The most logical thing to do here." You roll your eyes to the side, in an attempt to recollect. "Is to use this skill I just received. If it works the way she told me it would, I could most likely find a human settlement of sorts." While saying this, you tap on your nose, in an attempt to perhaps activate it. To your surprise, it seems to. Instantly, your nostrils seem to pick up every scent from every direction, leaving you disorientated. "D-damn..." You truly can smell just about everything. Every drop of dew and every patch of moss is almost visualized by your nose. While this is cool, it's not actually very helpful in terms of finding other humans unless you can narrow the scent profile down enough to the point where that's all there is. Thinking back on your previous life, you turn to what actual bloodhounds did to hone into one specific scent.
…So anyways, that is why you're on the forest floor, taking off your shoe. It's the most logical things to do, right?
Untying the laces, and removing the sock, you place it to your nose. Immediately, the rank smell hits you. The aroma of foot sweat, intensified hundred fold. Notably, it doesn't smell terrible, and you can tell the intensity is simply from the ability you're using. If that makes you feel any better.
But that is besides the point, anyhow. What is more important, is the fact that you can now "see" a trail. One of faint human scent, leading out of the little enclosure surrounding the cave you came from/in?
Most interesting, however, is a scent that is similar to that of a humans, but clearly different. The smell is muskier, like the progenitor has worked up a serious sweat.
Which one should you follow?
