Use a potion! (Potions -1, Confidence -1)

As Spearow and the Caterpie fought, I readied a potion from my pack, ready to spray the moment Spearow was in range. I knew this was my only hope in beating this gentleman, and I had to make sure that he didn't get to use my body. The moment the potion was in my hand, I could see the researcher was quite angry with me.

"That's cheating!" he screamed across the field, though I wasn't listening. Spearow, no doubt noticing my assist, flew close by for the spray. Healing him of his wounds, the bird closed in on the Caterpie and easily tore it apart with its renewed strength. Once the second Caterpie finally fainted, my Spearow returned to my side like the loyal pet it was, another victory in my pocket.

"Time to pay up!" I cheered, holding out my hand as the researcher approached me. The man was obviously annoyed, his face red from the shame of losing to a young lady like me.

"That potion was cheating, girl. I'll get you back for that!" Shoving some cash in my hand, I watched as the researcher fled towards Violet City, leaving me alone in the field yet again.

Time to enter Violet City!
