Chapter 20 by Spidermind Spidermind

Who do you turn to?

Urgent consultation

Arthur always imagined himself as just another face in the crowd, easily forgotten by anyone, someone who, in this world of extraordinary women, would never stand out.

Or at least that's what he thought before...

«What have I gotten myself into?»

If yesterday his presence had become quite noticeable, his recent relationship with the incandescent Nova catapulted him into popularity. By the first class, the entire university knew about his passionate relationship with the most popular girl.

There wasn't a single second when Arthur didn't feel like he was being watched with longing, hearing his name called in the middle of a conversation, or the radiant smiles of the girls near him.

On top of that, he also had to deal with his infatuated girlfriend who constantly boasted about being by his side as if he were a coveted trophy. This led to some rather awkward situations, like getting angry when a girl tried to talk to him, or the numerous suggestions of going somewhere private to "relieve stress."

"Come on, Nora, it's dangerous. If we get caught, we'll be in serious trouble," the guy whispered, trying to control the redhead's restless hands.

"Doesn't that make it more exciting? Besides, darling, don't play innocent with me. I know very well you want a second round." She gave her man a little nibble on his ear, managing to free one hand and place it on his crotch. "There it is, start asking for trouble... if you're going to try to lie to me, at least control your little friend a bit... hehehe."

Arthur's body trembled as if he'd been whipped. He frantically looked around, begging that no one dare come near them. They were sitting on a small bench in the patio, barely hidden by some bushes trimmed to resemble a woman posing heroically.

No matter how hard he tried to hide it or pretend otherwise, the truth was he couldn't deny that deep down he was starting to enjoy Nora's attention. She knew how to use her charms to awaken our protagonist's basest instincts, bringing him to the brink of losing control more than once.

"Uh... I... it's just a... well, you... you win. Yes... I do want to be with you again," he blurted out, defeated.

"So what are you waiting for, darling? Just tell me what we're going to do... I can suck you off, all your semen, or would you rather eat my tits? And how about we get straight to the point?" Nora squeezed his testicles gently, but firmly enough to elicit a groan from her boyfriend.

“AYYYY...hmm... okay... okay... you... you win... but...but I want you to do me a favor first.” With each word, Arthur’s face changed color.

Stars of fire flashed in Nova’s eyes, a reaction Arthur had been waiting for.

“Ask me for anything, my love! There’s nothing I won’t do for you.”

“Um... you see... how about you get some snacks and...and some energy drinks, you know, to give us more energy. If you get them, my love, I promise we’ll play again.” He used his trembling hand to clumsily stroke the hair of the future heroine.

Instantly, Nora rose above the bushes, looking at the young man with the resolve of someone who had accepted a significant challenge.

“I’ll get them, you can be sure of that.” There was no tenderness or hesitation in her voice, only a determination capable of annihilating an army.

Nora vanished in a trail of shock. Once out of sight, Arthur let out a huge sigh, like someone who had just lifted a mountain off his back. He quickly adjusted his glasses and then hurried out of the courtyard.

«It was so easy, she obeyed just by asking.»

Arthur paced the corridors, almost running, reflecting on his actions. He sensed that Nora would fulfill any of his requests, but the way she did it was terrifying. She didn't show the slightest doubt in the young man's words, believing him as easily as a child believes a story about Santa Claus.

This caused a knot in his stomach that made him stumble.

«I took advantage of my power, I manipulated her, and she believed it... I'm the worst.»

The guilt of controlling another person was terrible enough, but it was compounded by the fact that he had truly wanted to spend more time with Nova. But he didn't have time for that; first, he had to find answers about what was happening to him.

«She'll give me the answers I need... I hope,» he thought stopping in the doorway of the laboratory.

One of them saw how Professor Synapsis's attention was so focused on the microscope that she didn't even turn in his direction.

"Who is it?" he asked mechanically without looking at him.

"Uh...it's me...Arthur Adams."

This time Synapsis looked up for just enough seconds to see the concern on the young man's face.

"Strange, there are still 49 minutes until our class. Is something wrong, Mr. Adams?"

He paused, trying to find a way not to sound paranoid.

"Uh...you see, Professor, you said I could come if I needed help...um...I think...I think I'm having some kind of side effect from yesterday's accident."

"Have you had a headache, nausea, or fever in the last few hours?" This time the professor's tone was more serious.

“No, no, none of that. I haven't felt well...actually, my...uh...symptoms are more peculiar.”

Apparently, she sensed the fear in Arthur's last words, as she abandoned the microscope and focused on him.

“Could you define it more clearly, young Adams?” Her eyes narrowed seriously.

He decided to sit down to calm down, swallowed hard, adjusted his glasses twice, and took a deep breath. He knew very well that beneath that expressionless face was a vast brain analyzing his every gesture, making him feel like the specimen under the microscope.

“I think...I think...I think I've developed powers.”

Far from being surprised or laughing, Synapsis remained unchanged, as if he had told her he had the flu. Then she slowly shook her head from side to side.

“I’m afraid you’re mistaken. It’s impossible for a male individual to activate the Omega Gene in his body.”

The young man expected such an answer; after all, even he would question such a statement. And a part of him would love for her to be wrong, but he already had too many red flags to ignore.

“With all due respect, Professor, I’m not mistaken. I know I sound crazy, but I’ve noticed how the girls’ attitudes have become…strange around me…and some of them have undergone very radical changes…You have to believe me!” Arthur’s eyes were fixed on her, his tone of voice firm enough to sound more like an adult than a child.

Synapsis’s eyebrows raised just enough to be noticed by the young man, and at the same time, her lips pressed together for a few seconds in a brief internal struggle.

“I see… you’re convinced of your theory, young Adams, so to put your mind at ease, E-24 Activated!”

A floating silver sphere, almost the size of a baseball, emerged from the wall. A green light shone from its eyes, and it emitted a buzzing sound as it flew.

“It’s a drone I designed. It can scan an individual quite quickly, and don’t worry, young Adams, it’s not invasive.”

“Oh… thanks.”

“I… um… I already told you that… okay, E-24, initiate scan.”

The drone flew toward Arthur, its eye firing a painless laser that passed right through him. The sphere orbited the boy at least five times before returning to Synapsis.

Then an alarm began to sound in the professor’s high-tech glasses, the lenses turning green. Arthur deduced that she was analyzing the drone’s data.

For a few agonizing moments, the young man could only observe the teacher's almost mute facial expressions. Then, suddenly, she threw her head back, her mouth hanging half-open.

"This...is interesting, very interesting," she murmured, stunned.

Arthur's heart stopped, and standing up, he spoke, letting out his fears.

"IS THERE WRONG WITH ME?"

What is the diagnosis?
