Teanna opens...
Ups with you (+Teanna approval)
Teanna's eyes, which had been fixed on some distant point of calculation, suddenly refocus, sharpening as they land squarely on you. Your quiet, grounded observation has disarmed her in a way no direct challenge ever could. She studies you, her head tilting slightly. A slow, rueful smile touches her lips, a genuine expression that momentarily erases her practiced persona.
"A waiter," she says softly, testing the word. "That's... a good way to put it." She lets out a breath she seemed to be holding, and the rigid set of her shoulders relaxes into the velvet cushions. The crack you found is widening.
You let her continue to talk out her history. You study her beautiful face as it tight usually expression gone replace with a new softness.
"You're right," she continues, her voice dropping to an intimate murmur, a secret being shared only with you. "My father wouldn't know a waiter's name unless he wanted him fired. My family... they're old money. Not just comfortable, but... generations-deep, you-have-a-wing-named-after-you-at-the-local-hospital money." She waves a dismissive hand, not at the room, but at the very concept of it. "All this," she gestures to the opulent foyer, "is a downgraded replica of the guest bathroom at our estate in Greenwich."
You couldn't believe Teanna is rich girl. You're shock that she didn't immediately try to go for Matt as they seem like a perfect couple.
Her tone is laced with a bitterness that feels old, well-worn. "And in that world, I was the ultimate accessory. The pretty, intelligent daughter who was supposed to take her place at the firm, marry the son of a board member, and produce charming, blue-blooded heirs. I wasn't a person, I was a line item on a five-year plan. A 'strategic asset,' my father used to call it."
You thought that was kinda fucked up. Her dad trying to use her like mail order bride to up his own legacy.
She looks down at her hands, elegant and perfectly manicured, as if seeing them for the first time. "They wanted me to be a shark, but in a tasteful, Chanel-approved way. I went to all the right schools, got the right internships. I played the part. But I was suffocating. Every decision was made for me, every path pre-paved. There was no room to breathe, to... be messy."
You felt for her. Those controlling parent would make anyone feel like shit.
A wry, self-deprecating chuckle escapes her. "So, I chose a different path. One that would make my father's meticulously coiffed hair fall out. One where the currency isn't stock options, but... attention. Where I can set the agenda, call the shots. Here, I'm not a family asset. I'm a player. My empire," she meets your eyes again, and for the first time, you see the vulnerability beneath the armor, "is one I build myself, on my own terms. Even if it's on a stupid, trashy reality show. At least it's mine."
She doesn't wait for a response. Instead, she acts. In a single, fluid motion, she closes the remaining distance between you. Her hands cup your face, her thumbs stroking your jawline, and she leans in. Her kiss isn't the frenzied, competitive **** Mia is offering downstairs. It a kiss that starts soft, exploring, tasting of champagne and rebellion. It's a kiss of revelation, an unspoken thank you for seeing past the armor to the strategist beneath. It's a partnership sealed not with a handshake, but with the press of her lips against yours, a declaration that the empire starts here. Now. With the two of you. Her mind forgetting maybe for only a second about having more men in her little army.
Do you end the night with Teanna or try to go chat with anyone else?
