Unseen Support

Tim sat on the bleachers, his eyes fixed on the pool where his girlfriend Alison—or rather, his father Walter disguised as his girlfriend Alison—was completing her warm-up laps.

Beside him, Mike, one of his buddies, leaned forward, elbows on knees, watching intently.

"You think she'll make it to regionals this year?" Mike asked, keeping his voice low so as not to disturb the other spectators.

Tim nodded absently. "Yeah, she's got the talent. It's just a matter of staying consistent." His gaze never wavered from Walter-son in the pool and the coach calling out instructions.
