Unrecognized Issues

The three of you hurry through the hallways of the castle as hastily as you can. Jumping over bodies, dodging random pedestrians and otherwise completely ignoring everyone that tries to stop or talk with you.

You make it back to the Throne room and the Warrior brings you straight towards Karisi's chambers. The same chambers you only left just an hour or two ago. "What's going on?"

"Go inside!" he orders as he steps to the side of the door and allows you to open it.

You were hoping this was all one giant ploy to get you back to the bedroom to continue your fun with your woman but if so, that was quite the cruel joke. As your throat contracts to swallow down a huge load of saliva you take a few deep breaths to steady your heart rate before placing your hand on the doorknob and pulling it open.

The instant the door cracks open just slightly you hear it.

"Uughhhh..." Lexie is letting loose a very low growl through out the room. A low growl that didn't reek of excitement at all, a low growl that seems to be of discomfort or pain instead of arousal and pleasure.

"Lexie?!" you shout as you quickly jog into the room, making your way to the bed that Lexie is laying back on and that Karisi is sitting next to. You notice Karisi has a type of damp cloth rag and is pressing and rubbing it against Lexie's forehead, trying to keep her cool. Lexie has her shirt off with just a cloth wrap around your breasts allowing her shoulders and midsection to be completely out in the open.

Her body is wiggles and writhes back and forth on the covers. "Darien..." Lexie's voice is filled with pain "Ahhhh..." she whimpers a few times as her hands grip down hard on her stomach.

"Lexie! What's the matter?! Oh my god, what's going on?" you immediately crawl into the bed and pull yourself up to the side of Lexie. Your hands carefully place themselves on Lexie's body, trying your best to comfort her. "Karisi?!?" you groan up as you look at your Queen.

She looks at your distraught face and her head just slightly shakes no toward you. "I don't know, Darien. Poison maybe? Something wrong w..." she pauses "Something wrong with the baby." your eyes go wide "I don't know. I gave her some sedative which should help with the pain but also cause her to slowly drift to sleep."

"Lexie! Lexie, what's going on?!" you plead with your Fiance as you felt so helpless.

Tears were dropping down her cheeks as she kept wheezing, grunting and groaning in discomfort. "I-I don't know Darien...it, it hu-hu-hurts..." her voice cracks hard as she sniffles back the pain.

"Hey hey hey hey..." you lower your head so your forehead touches her own, your eyes are looking directly into each other "You've got this yeah, everything will be okay, we'll figure this out! You just keep fighting, keep being strong. I know you can do it, I know you will do it, okay? Promise me!" you pause briefly "Promise me you'll stay strong!"

Lexie only clenches her eyes down hard forcing more tears of anguish to roll down the side of her skull. She can't even talk back to you as her body just whimpers over and over again in discomfort.

Another two minutes go by where you just hold the suffering body of Lexie before the sedatives that Karisi gave her finally causes her to relax and fall asleep.

"Karisi...what do we do?" you ask your Queen.

She doesn't look at you at the start, instead she still rubs that cool piece of damp cloth over Lexie's forehead, after a few deep breaths "Well...here are the choices." she looks up at your eyes full of sadness "We either hope Lexie can power through it, if it's a weak poison her body can fight it. It could also be something minor like...cramps or something with the pregnancy." she stops.

"Or what else?!" you shoot out quickly.

"Or, it's a stronger poison and it's only a matter of ti..."

"Don't you dare say that." you reply "Lexie is strong, she'll fight it."

"Darien, if it's a stronger poison or worst case, something wrong with the child, then I'm afraid there isn't much we can do here." her voice sounds defeated "But...if we can get Lady Bree here, she's our best chance."

"Lady Bree?" you give your Queen a questioning look "Edmin's wife?!"

"Yes, Edmin's wife but also one of the best alchemists in the world. If she could get her eyes on Lexie and mix up a cure, or a potion or something to help, she would be the one to do it."

"So the love of my life is going to be left in the hands of Lord fucking Edmin's god damn wife..." you grumble out.

"Darien, Lord Edmin dislikes you, sure, but Lady Bree is helpful, caring and nice. She'll gladly do whatever she could to help Lexie out. The only issue is..."

"I'm not waiting for her to get here." you say "We'll leave south to Rathkin today."

"What? Through the storm? Darien, you can't!" her voice has concern.

"Karisi." you give her a stern look "Nothing, nobody, not a person, an army, a fucking act of the Gods, nothing is going to stop me from getting Lexie down to Lady Bree as soon as possible and if that means leaving today, through this damn storm, then I'm leaving today, no matter what!"

After a brief hesitation "Okay." Karisi agrees with you "Just know in a day it may pass and she could be good, but if not, you'll be a day closer to Lady Bree with her help. I'll get some more sedative worked up so you can bring it with you on your journey. I'm sure we can also get a type of carriage and horses to best bring her down to Rathkin. Assuming you can even make it out of the city."

"We'll make it." your voice flows with confidence as you stand up off the bed, looking at your quietly sleeping Sunrider "I'll make it for her." you turn around from the bed and see Zoe, her hands in her mouth, tears flowing down her face, completely speechless for once. "Zoe, if you want..."

"Yes yes yes, please let me come with!! Please please please!" she begs through her shuttering breath.

"Of course. Go get ready, grab what you can, we leave in an hour." you place both your hands on her arms "Lexie will be okay, I know it, stay strong for her, okay?" you grin through the heartache.

And with that you leave the chambers, bee-lining to grab your armor and weapons which are still down in the Mountain and a few things from your chambers as well. It's going to be a tough road ahead and you hope that once you get south enough to outrun the storm it should be easy moving forward. Lexie has always been there for you, always fought for you, always took care of you. Now it's about time you do the same for her...
