What does the next day bring?
Unexpected Opportunity
A/N: Do pardon my long absence from this story; studies, exams and other things kept me busy from updating it. But I’m back now, ready to continue!
26th April, 2017
Aviel groaned weakly as the first rays of sunlight filtered into her eyes, yawning loudly as she rubbed her tired eyes. As she moved to get up, however, a muffled groan registered in her eyes, as did a weight resting on her naked bosom and a delightfully dull ache in her vagina.
Straining her eyes downward for a moment, her lips curled into a smile as she saw the blissful sleeping face of Wakeyo, her Ethiopian boyfriend.
All of it’s happening at such a quick pace, Thought Aviel, It’s been barely a day since then and I’ve already had sex with Wakeyo. Is this the power of the Affection Multiplier? It’s… scary, actually.
Pushing such thoughts to the back of her mind, she planted a deep kiss on Wakeyo’s head, giggling softly as he stirred awake.
“Good morning, my dear Wakeyo,” Aviel said, “Sleep well yesterday?”
Wakeyo merely kissed Aviel back, saying, “Who’s the Snow White Angel I have to thank for that?”
Chuckling in return, Aviel slowly gets up from bed and stretches her body, removing all kinks and knots in her muscles as she brightly greets the new day.
With how large the mansion was, there was more than enough bathrooms for everyone. As Wakeyo went downstairs to the kitchen to cook breakfast, Aviel took the time to check the app for Wakeyo’s current scores.
Wakeyo Ephram Adane
Age: 28
Affection Score: 130 (+32)
Love Score: 80 (+30)
Lust Score: 100 (+65)
Now this was seriously scary.
It’s almost as if this is one big dating sim game that I’m easily acing without the use of cheats, Thought Aviel, I have to wonder though… how many others have access to this app, really?
As if hearing her thoughts, a message from the Affection Multiplier popped up on her screen.
“You need not worry, dear user. The Affection Multiplier only goes to those with the poorest luck in the whole world, and only those truly in need of such power. To clarify, the number of people with the app right now number little more than a hundred.”
Aviel’s eyes widened at this information, both at the sudden response from the app and having expected far more people than what the app stated. Yet, she nonetheless derived relief from this.
“We creators of the Affection Multiplier ensure that karmic balance is maintained through use of the app, but at the same time, we ensure it is not abused for nefarious purposes,” The message went, “All we will say is that we will intervene when things get sour.”
Reassuring to know, Thought Aviel.
“By the way, we ought to bring something to your attention that you now have new features unlocked,” Another message pinged, “As you can see, your affection score with Wakeyo has reached 100, so now you have gained access to the perk system. Please check the perk list now.”
With directions from the app itself, Aviel went on to discover a whole list of ‘perks’ the app listed; each perk had a different cost of perk points, depending on the type and what effects they gave. She saw that currently, she had 100 perk points available.
“Looks like one of those perk shops where you spend points to improve your character,” Aviel muttered, “Might as well see which ones matter to me most.”
It was not long before she came across a handful that caught her eye the most.
Smooth Talker: Your honeyed, silver tongue lets you sway people more easily to your point of view. Cost: 50 perk points
Charismatic: Why should people be **** to side with you when you can charm them? Cost: 50 perk points
Body of Steel: A stronger and tougher body is more resistant to threats that threaten to tear it apart. Cost: 80 perk points
Luck of the Fortuitous: So lucky are you in your endeavours that you fare better than most. Cost: 60 perk points
Perception: Where plots, schemes and motives are easily hidden behind masks, you can more easily see through such masks and expose them to your mind. Cost: 100 perk points
Aviel was not in need of a stronger body or luck, admittedly, but seeing as she was about to go into politics, it can never hurt to be less reliant on personal security. And politics itself was by nature a murky, mutable battlefield. One can never be too careful in which allies to pick.
And so, with that, Aviel purchased the perception perk, smiling at the two notifications warning him that his purchase cannot be undone – a splendid customer service.
Nothing happened, but then again, perception is not a talent that can easily be revealed.
With that, she went down to treat herself to the sumptuous breakfast where both Usenko and Wakeyo were waiting for her. She then quickly planted a kiss on Wakeyo’s lips, which the retired colonel returned in kind.
“Waiting long for me?” Aviel asked.
“Nah, we were just getting ready,” Said Wakeyo, “Come on, let’s tuck in.”
The three of them were quick to tuck into their meals, though Wakeyo was quick to ask Aviel, “So what do you plan to do right now?”
“What else? Meet up with other contacts in the IDF and persuade them to help me,” Said Aviel, “Ismael may seem willing to help me, but he’s only one man compared to an army of politicians, and with Harrell Lyons and his party scoring the absolute majority, I need to be prepared with a network of connections.”
“Just be careful, Miss Aviel,” Said Usenko, “You wouldn’t want to worry dear Wakeyo here, do you?”
“I guess I do not- wait, what do you mean by that?” Asked Aviel.
Usenko merely held up his hands in a knowing gesture, and you and Wakeyo groan in embarrassment.
“No need to be embarrassed, Miss Aviel,” Said Usenko reassuringly.
“Yeah, but still…” Aviel muttered.
Just then, Aviel’s phone beeped, and she took it out to see a message from Ismael. She briefly read it, and then quickly put it in her pocket.
“Aviel?” What’s the matter?” Asked Wakeyo.
“It’s Ismael, he says he has something for me,” Said Aviel, “I’ll be needing to go somewhere else afterwards to meet with him and some of his associates.”
“You sure?” Said Wakeyo, “Is it urgent?”
“Not really, but he does want me to handle this as soon as possible,” Said Aviel, “It concerns possible leads about the Knesset’s murders.”
Almost at once, Wakeyo’s face turns to one of worry, and Usenko likewise held great concern for Aviel.
Wakeyo, understandably, shows great **** in his face alone, though Aviel simply puts a comforting hand on his shoulder in response. Usenko appears more understanding, simply nodding.
“Just be careful, Miss Aviel,” Said Usenko, “We can never be too careful in this climate.”
“I know, Usenko,” Said Aviel, “And thanks for your concern.”
Rather than meet in any specific place, Aviel was currently having a meeting with Ismael and one other person in a limousine that Ismael had arranged earlier – a secret meeting that absolutely no one else could hear about.
Aviel, in question, was dressed in her officer’s dress uniform with a blue beret on her head, her right breast decorated with five medals from her honoured military service. Ismael’s own dress uniform consisted of bright green top and blue trousers, though his medals were more prestigious than Aviel’s.
The other person in question was Ronit Segalowitch, one of Ismael’s aides and a fellow Israeli captain in the IDF. A young woman of 21 years, she chose early on to pursue a full-time career in the IDF, and has since enjoyed her time in the military. With chestnut hair, brown eyes and freckled skin and an athletic figure, she cut a dashing appearance accentuated with her fitting uniform.
“So tell me, Sir, what do you have for me?” Asked Aviel.
“This,” Said Ismael, gesturing to Ronit to open a laptop.
As Aviel took the laptop and studied its contents, her eyes quickly narrowed in anger.
“How certain are you of this information?” She asked.
“Very,” Said Ismael, “We just confirmed it yesterday.”
What Ismael’s efforts had uncovered was the fact that Harrell Lyons’ miraculous survival from the explosion in the Knesset Headquarters was no miracle or simple luck – it was planned from the very beginning; the room Harrell hid in was made of elastomer, a very resistant and durable type capable of withstanding violent explosive forces.
And according to retrieved construction data, it was finished two weeks ago, plenty of time to organise an eventual bomb attack.
“Bastard…” Aviel muttered, “I won’t let him get away with this. Ismael, what about my other contacts in the IDF?”
“All accounted for… save one,” Said Ismael, “Ishmael Tschkenow.”
“What?” Said Aviel.
“Not long after your father’s **** with the rest of the Knesset, Ishmael went dark for some unknown reason,” Said Ronit, “All his credit cards and bank accounts were closed, he became uncontactable, and he’s all but dropped off the grid; we already exhausted many options trying to contact or find him to no avail.”
“Damn,” Said Aviel, “This is not what I expected.”
“But we do have an opportunity nonetheless,” Said Ismail, “Harrell is using whatever resources he has to find this man, and with how focused he is on this chase, it may be possible to exploit his lack of attention to find out what he or his associates knows. Perhaps at least, we can uncover something about this mystery.”
“We’ll see about that.” Said Aviel.
