Uneventful

She led him down the stairs to an underground parking lot where she opened the door to a Mustang GT.

"Nice ride," he said as he got in. She blushed prettily.

"Thanks, my parents bought it as a present for me." She started the car and pulled it out of the parking lot as she asked him directions to his house. She was a good if slightly reckless driver and it wasn't long before she turned onto his street. Hunter had her pull over and kill the lights as he looked at his house down the block.

The living room lights were on, which might mean Jess was waiting up. On the other hand she hadn't returned his text, which might mean she had fallen asleep with the lights on. Hunter weighed the possibilities in his mind, trying to decide what to do.

Should he just go in the front door and risk finding a wakeful Jess, and having to explain showing up in the middle of the night in another woman's bathrobe? Or should he sneak around the back and go in the basement door?
