Front door

"Pull up in front of that house, but leave your lights off," Hunter said, pointing at his house. "I'm going in the front door. When you see the door shut, leave."

"But you'll call me again," Lyndsey said with a tremor in her voice. "You promised."

"I promised," he said, leaning across the seat and kissing her cheek. She shuddered and turned her face to capture his lips, holding his head for a moment as her soft hot tongue probed his mouth. Hunter broke the kiss, and the girl gave a little whining gasp as he beckoned her to drive. She pulled the car to a stop across the street from his house and Hunter opened the door, listening for any sounds that seemed out of place.

He heard none, and the only house with lights on was his own. After a final glance around and a murmured farewell to Lyndsey, he quietly closed the door and trotted across the road and up this lawn to the front door.

He had the keys in his hand, having taken them out of the pouch while still in the car. He pressed his ear against the door and listened. Hearing nothing he silently slid the key into the lock and turned it, opening the door silently as he strained to hear any noise.
