Understanding and grateful

“Shit…” Aethyta said. “That’s a lot to unpack. I’m sorry I couldn’t be of any assistance during the matter. But from what I’m hearing, I owe you for saving my daughter’s life.”

“I should have known!” Shepard yelled. “I should have figured out that that thing was a fake! Instead I just believed everything at face value like an idiot and let Liara suffer for so long. While I whined about being naked, Liara was being tortured by that Cerberus bitch!”

Aethyta looked at Shepard and nodded. “Feel free to keep letting it all out. Don’t hold back.”

“Liara deserves better. Better than me. I couldn’t protect her. I couldn’t save her. I just… I just let her be a prisoner,” Shepard cried. “She… she didn’t even know that it was me when I came to save her…”

Shepard slammed a drink back as she let the **** burn her throat. Shepard sighed not even wanting to get drunk really. “Aethyta, how could I… how could I not have known?”

Aethyta took in everything Shepard said and when finally prompted said. “Shepard, you have saved me and my daughter and even my Nezzie from Saren, the Reapers, and so many damn bastards. And at the end of the day you saved Liara again. That is more than I could ever ask for. If I had any kind of problem with you, you wouldn’t be sitting at this bar drinking free drinks. Don’t you know how I felt when I heard that Nezzie died? And worse that she was a traitor to Saren? And then you came along. You gave my hope for Nezzie back. You let my partner die in peace and tranquility and you let my daughter have an amazing life. You were there when she lost Thessia. You saw it all. You are a goddamn hero and you need to start thinking like one. My daughter is alive thanks to you. And those cloning bastards will pay. I’ll send the asari commandos after them. They’ll be gone before they can sing the Thessia Global Anthem.”

Shepard nodded as she took a deep breath. “Thank you.”

“Now instead of complaining, how about we do something. I have a proposition if you’re up for it.“

Shepard nodded curious what Aethyta has in mind.
