Chapter 7 by brambank brambank

Where should Leanne hide?

Under the bed

Leanne quickly dropped to the floor and rolled under the bed. Not even bothering to check beneath first. It was just in time to as no sooner had she disappeared then she heard the door creaking open and the sound of footsteps entering the room.

The dust was thick in her hiding place and she had to stifle the urge to cough. Covering her mouth with both hands. Peering out from under the bed Leanne saw two sets of feet walk towards her. From the state of the shoes and muffled voices above she guessed they were female residents.

She tried to remain as silent as possible as she listened to their conversation. Her bare chest buried in the dirt of the carpet. Leanne watched one pair of feet move towards the wardrobe and heard the heavy wooden door open. There was a loft of shuffling back and forth as the two old women chatter about typical inane things. Leanne was starting to wonder if she shouldn't just reveal herself. The pensioners seemed sweet enough and might actually help her with something to cover her naked bosom.

However, before she could decide she noticed another pair of feet standing behind the old ladies'. These were more likely male. A pair of large black boots suited for working outdoors. She watched silently as he approached the chatting residents before she heard a dull thud followed by a piercing shriek.

One of the old ladies suddenly collapsed to the floor with blood pouring from her fractured skull. Then there was a second noise before her friend joined her on the heavily blood stained carpet. Leanne's hand slapped tightly to her mouth to prevent her from screaming out. The second old lady was facing towards her and her eyes widened as she saw Leanne in her hiding place.

The young woman placed her finger to her lips, pleading with the pensioner not to give her away her. Fortunately for Leanne a gloved hand reached down and grabbed the old woman. She was lifted by her collar before the sound of another deadly thud and the pensioner lay motionless on the floor.

Leanne was starting to panic. She could be seen at any second and with how tight the space was under the bed, it was highly unlikely she could get out of there and to the door before she was grabbed by whatever madman had attacked the old women. But lying there, trapped, could be just as risky. She had no idea who the guy was or what he wanted. If he looked under the bed she was done for.

What should Leanne do?
