Uh oh

"Alright let's see, here's the depossession spell," He told Azar as he began reciting the words. After a few minutes he casted the spell...and then nothing happened.

"Uh," They thought. They looked over the spell again and tried again making sure to pronounce the words properly. It still did not work.

"Why isn't this working?" Ethan questioned in exasperation. He could feel Azar's spirit trying to comfort him and while it was welcome, it didn't stop his worrying.

"Maybe you're out of mana?" Azar questioned.

"That's not possible, my mana reserves and yours are still rather high." Ethan noted as he pondered the possibilities. He was currently possessing Azar's body so he should be able to leave right....wait a minute. "Oh no don't tell me." Ethan realized.

Azar took the book and began flipping through the pages quickly, eventually landing on the spell, not the possession spell but rather the body swap spell. When the duo found it they looked it over and lo and behold there was a warning right below it.

"Never attempt to body swap with a body that houses multiple souls. Such acts can lead to an entanglement of the souls as the possession and swapping process may come into conflict with one or the other." They read.

"Oh no...oh no no no no." Ethan started to mutter. This was all his fault. He had gotten them into this mess. He tangled their souls up, now what were they going to do.

"Ethan."

Azar was going to hate him. He really screwed up this time. He should have thought things out more, maybe come up with an alternative strategy or something.

"Ethan,"

Maybe he should have just let Elenor have her way and then make a move later when it was safer to do so. At least then Azar wouldn't have suffered with this.

"ETHAN!" Azar screamed inside their head.

"Uh,"

"You were wallowing in self pity again." Azar admitted as she tried to console him. "Nothing that happened was your fault okay, it was all Elenor. You did what you thought was right at the time and for the most part it worked out." Azar told him.

"But...I got our souls tangled up now." Ethan tried to reason.

"Yes, but it's not the worst thing to be in. Compared to the alternative, I much prefer this outcome to whatever Elenor was planning to use my body for." Azar told him. "Besides, if there was anyone I ever wanted to be inside me, I'm glad it’s you."

"AZAR!"

"You know what I mean." Azar told him as she placed a hand on her chest, their chest. "You are one of the most gifted mages I know, if anyone can figure out this problem. I'm sure you can." She assured him. "And besides...you aren't going to be alone in this, I'll be right here by your side." She told him. Azar walked in front of her mirror looking at her reflection, their reflection. She lifted up their arm and flexed, making a confident looking smirk. "With my brawn and your magic we'll be the ultimate team,'' she smiled.

"Azar, I don't think you realized what's the issue here."

"Ethan, I know what the issue is. You're worried I'll consider this an invasion of my privacy and my body. You're worried I'll hate you if you have any uncontrolled thoughts or fantasies about me. I want to assure you that's not the case." Azar told him.

"Still." Ethan whispered. "It just feels weird being here."

"I know." Azar told him. "I get that but we don't have a choice right now. We need to work together on this and figure out a way to do so soon." She informed him. "I honestly have some of the same worries as you, that you'll hate me if you learn what's going on in my head, but I know worrying won't fix it." She told him.

"So what do we do now?" He questioned.
