Two Rings for Two women

Carly shook hands with her lawyer, Melissa.

Carly was a tall, raven-haired ex-model who was in divorce proceedings. Her husband demanded a divorce after he found out Carly was cheating on him, but he failed to collect the evidence. He saw Carly and her lover making out in a car one day but did not get his phone out in time to record it.

Carly's husband was rich and had fallen madly in love with Carly, so he did not get a pre-nuptial agreement before the marriage, and with no proof of infidelity, Melissa told Carly they were going to take Steve to the cleaners.

They had their first meeting with Steve and his lawyer the next morning. When each woman returned home, she found a ring box on her porch. Each box held beautiful gold ring with a red garnet stone.

The next day, Carly and Melissa arrived at the lobby of the building where Steve's lawyer's office to see Steve with his lawyer Cooper. They seemed to be in a very good mood.

"I see you wore that dark red tie I hate," Carly told Steve.

"Wore it just for you. Nice ring," said Steve.

"Thanks."

"I like your ring too, Melissa," said Cooper.

"Thanks," she said in a cold, businesslike voice.

"Shall we go to up to the firm?" asked Cooper. "The conference room awaits."

"Yes, let's get started," said Melissa. She figured the only reason Cooper and Steve looked this happy was either they had evidence of Carly's infidelity, or they were putting on an act.
