Before he completed his transition, Douglas wanted to win a couple of more cases. This would allow him to retire comfortably, even as Elizabeth grew the household larger.

The first was easy: a tort case in North Carolina over contaminated water. He'd be over that one by summer if he was lucky. The second one was not so easy. He was helping the dad of his pool boy, Julio, with a personal injury case against a local bigwig. It was factually easier than his tort case, but Pablo was a difficult client.
