Twin-Born Elder Dragons

What happens with a Soul so torn between options that it is literally ripped in half? Quite simply two dragon comes into existance. These are called twin-born.

Now what is so special about them, when there are twins in every other known race? Well, mainly two things.

First of all they are quite rare as there is no natural equivalent to a greater dragons choice. Those souls need to splinter through the pure potential of their species. Actually that makes then so rare that most of the time there are only a few dozen alive across the nations.

And even more special is the fact that out of the 6 Dragonfalls only yours ended in a soul becoming twin-born. (You're quite the special snowflake, ya know? Like the most special snowflake amongst already special snowflakes.)

But let's get to the other special aspect first. Twin-born dragons may be seperate beings but they still have one soul. It's just broken into two halves. While this generally causes them to develop into different directions, like one twin delving deep into magic while the other shows only martial prowess, their still connected with each other. On a more instinctive plane of thinking. It causes for example that they sense when one side is in danger or close to dying the other will know.

And if it comes to the unlikely case that only one side dies without an option of coming back, well the soul merges back together. Just like that! Well... atleast kind of. Since both soul fragments had time to develop their own distinct personalities it's probably more like the dead dragon haunts around inside the other ones head. Like a back-seat driver. Sounds annoying? Yes, but it's not as worse as it sounds. Or atleast not as long the dragons had a similar mind set during seperation.
