Trying To Talk To Nicole

The rest of the morning past almost normally for Anna.

Once she was out in the main house with everyone else it was easy to forget what had happened the night before. She put up with the light-hearted jabs and jokes from the others even as they stung a little more than normal.

She also couldn’t help but notice the tiny change in Mindy’s expression when Nicole made an off colour joke about her sleeping with Kenny. It was tiny, something that she would have missed before, but now it seemed like a glowing neon sign to her. A warning to stay away from Kenny or was she just imagining that?

She tried to ignore it, playing off the joke the same way she had all the other jokes Nicole liked to make and soon enough she found herself gearing up to head out on the slopes.

The lodge was within line of sight of the slopes, the bright morning sun glittering off of the snow as they all pulled on heavy jackets and trousers. The lodge didn’t come with any kit unfortunately and so the group found themselves trudging over to the squat building that sat at the bottom of the nearest slope.

Anna hung at the back, walking beside Mindy and chatting in what, to her own ears, sounded like strained tones. However Mindy didn’t seem to notice or care, she was far too busy talking about what slope they should try first and what they could have for lunch. Anna went along with the talk, all the while keeping her eye on Nicole.

Nicole was at the head of the group, chatting animatedly with JJ. There was no way she could get a chance to talk to her right now. The hell with everyone going with each other up onto the slopes would she even have a chance to be alone with her all day?
