Try to walk past the gryphon

Moving slowly, you walk toward the gryphon, trying not to act threatening or frightened. The creature watches you, but doesn't move. You step up against the passage wall and try to ease yourself past the mighty beast, only to find you path blocked by an outstretched wing.

"I think by now you should know the rules of this game," the gryphon says, his voice mellow and bored sounding.

"I do," you say with a sigh. "I'm just sick of playing."

"Then I would recommend getting this over with as quickly as possible," the gryphon says. "I promise not to prolong the experience any longer than necessary." I guess that answers your question regarding the intelligence of gryphons. You make a mental note to add the information to your Adventurers Handbook, if you ever get it back.

"All right," you say. "I just have one question."

"Ask," the gryphon says, folding his wings again.
