Trial period

Elodie is quiet at your question and remains still as she stares at your hand with great indecision.

Seeing this great amount of hesitation within the young heroine in training, you retract your hand and come up with a new offer, one that Elodie may be more willing to accept.

“Elodie, I can see your hesitation, and I understand completely. After all what I’m asking from you is- “you pause in your speech unsure of what really to say, but fortunately, Elodie cuts in she stares at you with wide eyes.

“Positively bonkers?”

“I was gonna say overwhelming, but sure we can go with your description. Anyway like a said before I understand your hesitation and so I’m willing to offer a new deal that you might find a little bit more appealing.” You tell the young blonde as she still retains that great look of indecision on her face as she crosses her arms out of nervousness.

“Here’s my offer Elodie, you can work for me temporarily like an intern in a sort of trial period and if you decide that you would like to stay on permanently then you can do so. However, if you decide that you want to leave my employee, then you can, and you can also leave with any goodies that I give you during your trial period under my employ.” You lay out your new deal to the mystic archer and re-offered your hand to her. Elodie could only bite her lip in nervousness as she considered the pros and cons, but eventually, she came to a conclusion and slowly reached out to shake your power armored hand.

“Sigh… I don’t know why I am agreeing to this but after what you’ve shown me on at least willing to give it a try.” Elodie exasperatedly sighs out as she shakes your hand.

“Great now let me-“

“but if you make me do something I am completely against then I will leave immediately,” Elodie says as she cuts you off. At her condition, you simply shrug your shoulders and concede to her requirements.

“If that’s what it takes to get you on board, then so be it. However, just like I said before if you leave, I won’t stop you, it is and always will be your choice on whether or not you wish to stay under my employ. Now, are there any more conditions you want to add on to this deal of ours?” You asked the mystic archer, to which she wordlessly shakes her head, giving you a wordless no.

“Great, now like I was saying before, let me call my manservant up so you can sign your contract of employment with me.” At that statement, Elodie raises one of her blonde manicured brows in questioning.

“Contract of employment? Manservant?” Elodie asked incredulously as you wordlessly send out instructions to Joey to drop Elodie’s contract of employment.

“What? Did you honestly think that that I wasn’t going to pay you for your services? And did you think I was gonna try doing all of this on my own?” You tell your new intern with a rather flat tone. At which Elodie could only look at you with an even larger degree of shock written on her face. However, as you look at your new intern, you also can’t help but notice her bow lying on the ground.

Elodie is going to need to upgrade if she’s going to survive out there in the greater multi-verse. So, with that in mind, you dive into your personal inventory to find something for Elodie that would be far more suitable.

Eventually, you happen upon an old weapon of yours in the form of a specially created longbow.

As you drew this powerful weapon out of your inventory, it appeared in your hands not in the form of an actual longbow but instead in the simple form of a silver multi-jewel bracelet.

The bracelet itself was rather simple looking, just being a simple silver band but what was most interesting with the tools that were placed throughout the round band. Each of these jewels in the band were as follows a blue round sapphire, a red ruby triangle, a square green emerald, a yellow diamond, and a moon-shaped aqua topaz.

However, as you drew this simple looking trinket out Elodie could only look at it in questioning.

“What is that?” Elodie asked curiously as she looked at the simple looking bracelet in your hand.

“Your new bow.” You explain simply which drew an even larger look of questioning from the blonde archer.

“I’m sorry what?” Elodie asks confusedly.

“Like I told you before it's your new bow. Don’t let the bow’s dormant form trick you, though it may look like a simple bracelet it is, in fact, an extremely powerful longbow known as “Merry man.” It’s a powerful weapon that I forged personally a long time ago, though I no longer use it I still keep it around for sentimental reasons. Though it looks like you could use it more than I now.” You explained to your blonde intern as you activated the bow, that causes the bracelet to be covered in white light before extending in growing in size till it reached the proper size of a longbow.

Now Merry man in its full form looked like a smooth and elegantly crafted silver longbow that had a single strand of blue energy going where the original bowstring should be, and the original gemstones that were part of the bracelet now line a special ring in the longbow’s grip.

Elodie was in slight shock at the sudden transformation of the weapon and could only look at the weapon in awe, but you can also see the hesitation in her eyes as you look at Elodie’s completely speechless and awed reaction to the weapon you immediately and the bow over to her. To which Elodie stumbles for second as you toss the weapon into her arms, but as she regains her footing, she can only look in awe at the powerful weapon now in her arms.

As Elodie inspects the new weapon, you receive a text message from Joey telling you that he’s on his way with the documents. Seeing this, you decide it’s best if you wrap this all up quickly and immediately laid out the functions that the bow offered to your new intern.

“Elodie.” Your call immediately breaks your blonde archer’s focus on her new weapon as she immediately looks back to you.

“if you think it's amazing now just wait until you learn about its special abilities. Those abilities include special shot types that you can select any time by using that little wheel on the grip and the ability to respond here if you die out in the field.” At this sudden information, Elodie’s already wide eyes go even wider as she sputters slightly as she tries to come up with the proper response but before she does the elevator opens up to reveal Joey with a digital pad.

“Sir I’ve got the documents you requested and… Is she alright?” Joey asked in concern as he looked at the gibbering wreck that Elodie had become. At this, you simply waved off his concerns and took the digital pad from his hands.

“Ahh… She’s fine; I don’t think she was expecting this much goodwill coming from a villain.” You tell Joey as you hand the pad containing the contract of employment over to Elodie who wordlessly takes it from you as you turn back to face Joey. However, as you do so, you can see the look of concern on Joey’s face grow even larger as he points behind you.

“A-are you sure about that sir she’s k-kinda foaming at the mouth…” Joey tells you nervously, in response you merely turn back and see that Elodie is indeed foaming at the mouth slightly as she mumbles to herself about something having to do with zeros…

Eh. Probably nothing to be concerned about. So with that done you dismiss Joey and turn back to your supercomputer and ask yourself…
