Chapter 9 by Frog-Wizard Frog-Wizard

What is it?

Treasure and Level ups

The Tomb, the only thing that was taken care of in this forsaken tomb was this closed golden coffin, even the adornements on it were pristine as if they were cleaned a few seconds ago, Arsene got closer to it with caution, after all he was almost dead, after realizing that there were no more dangers, a big grin appeared on his face, he tried to read the engraving on it, but it didn't really ring any bells nor seem that important.

It took a considerable amount of effort to move the cover of the coffin considering he had only one working arm, but he managed to move it aside enough for him to look inside, and what he saw, oh what he saw made him the happiest he has ever been playing this game, a Skeleton of short height, probably a Dwarf or another small race wearing a long robe a book on one side and a staff on the other, both looked old and powerful, but if he had to describe them.

The book's cover was made of reddish leather, it was hot to the touch, with the emblem of a flame on it, clearly a tome about fire, one opened it emanated a light heat, there were words but he couldn't read them, it was as if seeing written gibberish, some words though, he managed to understand.

Deciphering Occult Book 1% done.

"welp, that makes sense, nothing can be an easy reward... at least i have something to read on the way" with a heavy sigh about the game decisions, he put it in one of his pockets, and with that he went on to the staff.

Firewood staff: This staff, warm to the touch burns itself just as it burns it's enemies, increase the damage done by fire spells by 50% and reducing the mana cost of fire spells in the same percentage.

"Oh that's great!.... i don't know any fire spells though......" he sighs, even if he can't use it yet, it will come in handy when he deciphers that book, he looks around, seeing if there's a secret exit behind this place or something like that, after all, the entrance is just a hole, there's not really a way to get out from there "If there's not an exit i will have to dig myself out of here... that sucks-"

Before Arsene could finish he was already standing outside, feet on the sand, with a big pop up infront of his eyes.

Dungeon Delving lvl 1!

+200 xp

"RIGHT! LEVELS! uuuuuh i think i got a lvl up in the midst of that fight?" Arsene tried to open it up, but as he was used to gesture using his hands to search for the level up thing, it took him a lot longer than anticipated, adding to that the fact that it was night-time in game, AND he was walking during it so yeah, not really fast, but he managed, and managed to open up the character sheet.

"WOW, two whole levels? i guess that Anerath dude was worth something! i really jumped a lot in mana, not that much in health, a base 5 increase each level it seems? hmmm, that will take a while, how far am i from fourth lvl? is there an xp bar? no? damn okay, anyway, i need to put these somewhere...." he thought, he was gonna place them all into rationality again but when he placed the first five on it a pop up interrupted him

Rational Reality I: Increase Rationality by 5% and strenghten the effect it has on spell power, mana regeneration, and total mana.

"THIS THING HAS TRAITS?! oh god and i was planning on dumping it all on rationality for the spellpower.... uuuuuh well i guess i could do with more toughness if this thing has traits for every stat, well, nothing that can be done about it now, let's just put them all into toughness for now" he did just that, it didn't have the greatest effect, he was a magic first class, so his hp would always be lacking, but it was nice seeing everything go up, his mana was a very big number now, so he was happy.

"Yeah that's what im talking about, just look at that mana! look at the health! so much better than before, though i guess i will always have low health considering the fact that i am a mage, but it's nice" with a smile he starts looking at his skills, those must have changed from before, even if most of his xp came from a single skeleton, just remembering that gave him shivers.

"that looks... right, i guess occultism is not really useful in a desert, would have selected pathfinding or something like that if i knew" he said, and kept walking, placing his good hand on his chest... he could use the heart, his most profound desire at this moment probably was finding a good bed to sleep on, besides, now he was prepared for the pain, he decided to do it, after all, it beats walking this place for longer than necesary, he does not have the water for that.

Arsene winced in pain, as the Heart Of Ambition pulsated inside of his chest, painful waves sent throught his body, but this time, it didn't hurt as much, maybe because he expected it, or because he was already in a bit of pain, but it showed him, a small village, far, but not that far, 5 more hours of walking to reach a place where there might be a bed to sleep on.

Move north, there you will find rest.

"Move north, stab the sand, god dammit, so far, so fucking faaaar" sadly, even though he just wanted to get to that town, it would take him most of the night, but it didn't really matter what he wanted, he just had to move, and walk, he ate one of the fishes he cooked earlier, now cold but still, he didn't have time to stop... no that's a lie he had a lot of time to stop, He still has days of "vacation" so yeah, no, he walked, while reading that book, it would take him a while to figure it out so two birds with one stone.

On the other side, the town that Arsene was pointed to was 'Abandoned' in a sense, less than a town it was a small village, desolate, only thing remarkable about it was that there was a functioning well, and it wasn't really abandoned, a dozen or so bandits, hurt and trying to rest, it seemed they had a rough few days, a raid gone wrong maybe?

"Listen" Said a burly man, bald and imposing, probably a Risafaedr, talking to the group, he sounded like the typical ruffian, he even had a bandana around his neck covering his mouth, greatsword on his back, "We just got unlucky, but the worst has passed, we just need a few days to recover our own strenght, and we will find another caravan, we have food, we have water, and no sane person will go into this desert to search for some lowly bandits" he truly seemed to believe this, one of the bandits a Lup'ini woman next to the man with total disinterest in whatever he might be saying, the woman had soft looking black fur covering her arms and legs, if it covered more of her body it was hidden by her clothes, it seemed that whatever fight her group got into she left unscathed, her face had a bored look on it, She sported short wavey hair, the same color of her fur, some beautiful eyes of a predator, her pupils an amber color, akin to gold, her skin was lightly tanned from the exposure to the sun, all in all, certainly a woman that catches the eye, either by her trained figure, or by the lance she had on her back.

"so what do we do now boss?" asked one of the bandits that was hearing this supposed motivational speech from his boss.

"Well, Myrna will check for food and all, everyone else can rest, since she is clearly more interested in looking at her paws rather than listening to her superiors, this concludes the meeting boys, get some rest" The Lup'ini woman, Myrna was fuming hearing that, she wanted nothing more than to rip out the throath of her supposed boss, she could, it would be so easy, but something stopped her, not hesitation, magical thinkering in her mind of some kind, the anger didn't dissipate, she just started walking away, to check which houses still had edible food.

"that's a good girl" Said the man with an audible laugh, a rolled-up white paper glowing in his pocket, he started to walk away too, the smile on his face dissapearing as soon as no one could see him, soon after a small bird landed on his shoulder, handing him a letter, he opened it, read it to himself and let out a sigh of relief.

"New bounty for you Klaus, in a 2 weeks time, a caravan will go through your usual spot near the ravaged coast, i want it gone, everything destroyed no man, woman, or children left, no witnesses, the pay will be bountiful, do NOT dissapoint, the details are on the back, you are on thin ice Klaus." of course, the relief wasn't that comforting, it was a threat, after all, another fuck up and his head was on the line, but it didn't really matter, just another job, Klaus checked the back of the letter and his eyes widened, "One mage and 3 caravan hands, that's all? that's way too much for such low danger.... this is my lucky break!" not the brightest man, but a real danger.

"Almost there, just a few more steps Arsene, just a few more.... hey, it's really almost there!" he said in the dead of night, standing on top of a dune looking down at this town, almost fully recovered from the whole ordeal, arm still sore, but not wounded anymore, he pulled the hood of his robe to cover his head, just because, he checks for a photographic mode to take a quick capture of the scene since he feels very cool, ah hell he'll draw it later.Arsene Walked into the bandit filled town, without a care in the world, a smile on his face as he walked into danger once again.

¿attack in the dead of night?
