Transformation Gymnastics

One of the most unpredictable events, the Transformation Gymnastics event is one of grace and technique as well as adaptability. For the crowd, it can be a delightful routine to watch, even if it's a bit of a headache for judges to score...

The basic premise of Transformation Gymnastics is that both a gymnastics routine and something akin to a magical duel take place simultaneously. Each contestant has a list of approved transformative abilities by the BCR Committee, as well as an approved athletic routine. Multiple contestants are active in the arena at one time, and they can gain points both on the execution of their athleticism as well as their ability to transform other beings on the spot. Often, the forms chosen by the contestants for their rivals in the arena are meant to be embarrassing or hinder their performances, so bonus points are awarded for any transformed contestant who can overcome their changes and execute the elements of their routine. One of the best known masters of adaptability is the elf named Roriel, who at one point in the 33rd annual rodeo had his arms turned into live snakes, but managed to use this to his advantage as he was able to coil his snake-arms on the ground to spring upwards into the air, performing various aerial feats with incredible ease.

In the last minute of the routine, each contestant is allowed to use a 'finisher transformation', which can turn opponents into near anything, animate or inanimate, so long as it is not permanent. Winners of their round of Transformation Gymnastics can decide whether or not their competitors they struck with a finisher must remain like that until their next scheduled event. Contestants are particularly wary of the half-demon witch Merzalona, who often transforms other contestants into conscious yet helpless frilly dresses that she wears throughout the remainder of the rodeo when she's victorious. Accounts from those she had transformed into her wardrobe vary from humiliation to begrudging enjoyment.

All in all, the chaos in this event is that contestants are not in control of the shape of their forms by the time it is completed. The results can be beautiful, amusing, confusing, and crowd-pleasing.
