Training Distracts The Mind

You were pissed off. You were mad. You were angry. You were confused. You were frustrated. You were baffled. You couldn't concentrate on one single thought. "Stupid stupid stupid..." you grumble as you once again are walking down the hundreds of steps deep into the mountain. You knew of one thing that would distract your thoughts and that was grabbing a short sword and a dagger at the training grounds and either fighting against some dummy's or finding some other Sunrider's to fight. Nothing distracted your mind as much as fighting and getting that rush of battle in your system.

As you exit the cave and take your first few steps out looking onto the Training Grounds you can't help but just lift your shoulders up high and suck in the biggest, deepest breath you can. The morning desert sun getting higher and higher into the air and causing many of the warriors training on the grounds to have long shadows extending into the rock. Turning to your left, you go over to where all the armor and weapons are sitting. You're still in the same leather pants and cloth shirt you had on when you woke up but you knew nothing would get too serious here so you didn't bother putting on any type of armor. You quickly find a well balanced short sword and dagger and turn back to the grounds.

Clenching the grips hard in your hands you make your way down the slant in the mountain down into the grounds to start some much needed training.

Slashing into a dummy over and over again felt exhilarating. It was weird though because at first you did feel a little out of breath probably because your body wasn't use to this much movement recently but after another handful of minutes you were already sweating profusely and ready to keep the training up.

You had to admit, it felt great! To be able to just focus on fighting, dancing around and slashing rather than any of this other bullshit politics or assassination attempts. This is what you truly loved to do and all the other shit you were sick of. Minutes turned to hours as you just continued pelting your sword away on the wooden dummy ahead of you.

Your focus got interrupted by a voice behind your back.

"I sat around watching you, Mr Darien! I...I watched you for at least an hour and was like, I'm going to go ask him now. Then I stopped. Now I'm here and I'm asking you and I'm babbling and I'm wondering if you wanna train?" the ever talkative black haired girl asks.

You just grin at young woman before you "Come on, show me what you've got!" you lower your stance down ready to defend as needed.

"Oh oh oh! You're in for it now buddy!" Zoe smiles bright as she charges into you.

You had to admit, she was better than she was when you first toyed with her back in Murnic underneath the Tavern. She hid her attacks a little better but she still was no match for you at all. She kept her spirit up though and never backed down from the training. You knew she wasn't one of the better Sunrider fighters but with proper training and as long as her drive and determination kept up, she could become great.

The entire day passed by where both yourself and Zoe just kept up your attacks, defending and movement. It wasn't until the Sun started to dip below the mountain that the two of you realized you have been outside the entire day, not worrying or focusing on anything else but instead just basking in the glory of fighting each other.

"I-I..." Zoe huffs "Let's go again! Come on!" she says between gasps.

"Zoe." you laugh "Let's call it for the day. We've been going non-stop." you grin at her. "Follow me though, I have an idea and think you would be the perfect person for it." you drop the training weapons on the ground and motion Zoe to follow you "Come on!"

"Oh oh oh! Okay!" she too drops the same short sword and dagger before playfully skipping up to your side "Where we going?!" she asks

"You'll see." you turn your head and give her another large smile as the two of you exit the training grounds and head back inside the mountain.
