Hanna led the champions back through the path they had made the day before. They reached the ring of fallen trees, and began to climb over.

"I'm not going back in there," Ria said. "I got all the stone circle sex magic I needed yesterday, thank you very much."

Josk pointed at Karn. "He shouldn't go in their, either," he said. Karn rolled his eyes.

"Okay," Yolna said, "Why don't we go and you two stay out here and watch him?"

"Fine by me," Ria said. "Have fun looking at rocks."

Hanna led Yolna, Denni, and Brudd over the fallen logs, leaving Ria and Josk to watch Karn outside the circle.

"These must be ancient," Denni said, looking across the circle at the stones of varying shapes and sizes.

"They are," came a soft voice from the other side of the circle. Then the group noticed two figures hiding in the trees above them. One male and one female, both tall and lithe, with pointed ears poking out from behind pale blond hair, almost white. "And they are sacred to our people." The two elves drew their bowstrings tight, arrowheads glinting in the morning sun.
