To the local bookstore

As you woke you found yourself alone in your bed, thinknig back on yesturday you couldn't help but smile, having all that fun with Jane. She surprised you by being able to keep up for so long, but eventually she gave out, your stats being maxed out meant it was innevitable. Still, you both had your fun and she eventually was able to stand again and left.

You couldn't help but laugh at the thought of the awkward conversation those two will have sooner or later.

As you stood to clean up for the day, you heard rain start to fall on your window, thick dark clouds covering the city threatening to release a heavy torrent sometime soon.

"Great, and here I was going to get some reading done today" you grumbled to yourself as you headed for the bathroom, planning to head out and grab as many books as you could. You didn't want to put the task off either, sooner or later someone would have the idea to burn books to stay warm since the power was going to run out soon.

After cleaning yourself of the sweat you worked up last night and filling your stomach, you got ready and put on a heavy jacket to protect yourself from the rain, right now it was a light drizzle but it would soon turn into a storm.

If an empty street was creepy on a normal day, then one with rain and smashed cars and ransacked buildings was 10x worse. You doubted you'd actually meet any body outside today, no one would want to head out in such weather unless they were ****.

You just got the bookstore in your sights when you heard them, low growls coming from all around you. Glancing around you saw several zombie dogs walk out onto the street, chunks of their bodies missing as you saw bones and missing organs, one missing half its face and an eye while another dragged its out guts around on the floor.

For a moment you thought of bringing out a gun, but these were much faster than a human zombie, hitting them in the head would be difficult as they ran around and attacked from several points at once.

Summoning the machete and a hunting knife in each hand, you dashed forwards before the dogs could fully surround you, throwing the knife at one which jumped out of the way while you struck at the other, the blade easily slashing the dogs head in half when backed by your own strength.

The dogs you threw the knife at lunged at you, flying throught the air as the knife flew off the ground and into the creatures stomach and making it fly through the air upwards. As you release your telekenisis you slashed the machete upwards as the dog fell, seperating its head from its body.

Feeling something land on your back and bite into your shoulder you stumbled forwards and grunted, thankfully the thick jacket was strong enough to stop the teeth from actually biting into you. Covering yourself in electricity the dog let out a large cry of pain as it was fried slightly, letting go of you and falling to the floor as two more dogs attacked you, one leaping to try and bite at your face or throat while the other aimed for your legs.

Holding up the machete use used the dogs jump for it to land on the blade through its own ****, while using your telekenisis to pull your knife out of the decapitated dog and sending it flying down into the head of the dog trying to bite your ankles, pinning it to the ground.

As the body of the dog landed on your body, you rolled backwards with the **** and threw the body away, landing on your feet and seeing the dog you'd lightly electrocuted staggering to its feet. Any normal animal would run now that it was alone and injured, but the hunger of zombies wasn't something they could ignore, it was the thing that drove them forwards no matter the danger.

As such, you weren't surprised when the thing ran towards you, but now it was alone you coudl give it your full attention.

Putting the machete away you clenched your fist and rose it above your head, in a single hammer blow you brought it down on the zombie dog, driving its head into the ground and crushing it, splattering blood and brains and bones all over yourself and your surrnoundings.

"Oh gods that's disgusting" You cried out as you turned aside and threw up on the street. "It looks so much cooler in the games and movies. You never take the smell into account"

It took you a few minutes to empty your stomach and for the queezyness to pass, summoning several bottles of water to wash the taste of your puke out your mouth and clean yourself of the blood and gore.

Doing your best to ignore the dog you splattered, you picked up your knife and put it away. Turning back you headed up the street towards the bookstore, still regretting your finishing move and trying to forget it.

Not bothering to be quiet, you simply kicked the glass door of the shop and stepped in, removing your wet coat and pulling out a towel to dry your wet face now that you were out of the rain. Placing the towel around your neck you looked around for some light switches, finding them behind the counter. Instantly the dark shadows of the store went away allowing you to easily find what you were looking for. Engineering, farming, cars, engines, mechanics, plumbing. There were books for everything you'd need and a few more you hadn't thought of. You put them all in your storage, then took the rest of the books in the store as well. Even if you didn't use them for fire fuel you could read them, with no new movies or shows being made entertainment would eventually stagnate if you just stook to the stuff you liked, eventually you'd want to read trashy romance novels or even a kids book about a hungry moth just to pass the time.

Giving the store a once over just in case you missed anything, you put your towel away and pulled out your jacket as you got ready to leave, the rain and wind was going really hard now, the city trully in a storm.

As you stepped outside you froze as you heard a loud, weird croacking noise. Pulling out a shotgun you creeped slowly closer to where you killed the zombie dogs, the rain so thick it cut down how far you could see.

You heard the croak again as what made the noise slowly came into view, a huge mutated toad creature was in the middle of the street blocking off most of it, it's tongue shooting out and grabbing one of the dead dogs and ulling it into its mouth.

You remembered this monster, they weren't supposed to be seen till much later in the game, once you established the other place. It was a four eyed toad, a mutated monster that was surprisingly tough and fast. It's only weapons was it's tongue and massive body, getting trapped byt the tongue meant any normal person was going to be eaten and if it jumped on you then its own weight would crush you. It took a lot to even hurt it, its tough skin not even bothered by small fire arms.

Your best bet to beat it would be to shoot it with armour piercing bullets, or with Powers that could hurt it.

But why was it here now? They should still be in the river that ran through the city, their skin needing to stay moist or else they'd die in less than half a day on a sunny day.

"Of course." You mumbled to yourself as you realised the amount of rain falling would be more than enough to keep this thing alive, watching as the toad ate the last of the dogs.

Not bothering with stealth any more, you stood up normally and approached, standing before the toad so both of you could see each other. You stared at it as you put your gun away, it being useless in a fight against it.

The toad looked at you for a moment, sizing you up as it let out a few low croaks, before shuffling it's body around and leaping away, either full from its meal of dog or knowing you were too dangerous to face by itself.

Admittedly you were a bit releaved, you weren't exactly excited or wanted to face the four eyed toad, nor any other mutated monster for that fact. They were always a hassle and you wantd an easy life and harem, goddamn it!

Sighing in relief you headed home, planning to do some major reading the next few days.
