Chapter 4
by Blana
What place draws your attention the most?
To the Crocodile's Nest
Into the Crocodile's Maw
The stairs down to the Crocodiles Nest are barely lit as you walk down. Lamps like flaming torches on the walls slightly illuminating a few steps at a time.
Worried about slipping and hurting yourself, you go down relatively calmly.
The further down you travel, the more you can hear the sounds of cheers, rough housing and laughing.
It certainly seems that the patrons are enjoying themselves there.
You pass by some fliers, wanted posters if the large ‘WANTED’ on the poster means anything. All five are women, with very large bounties on their heads. And a long list of crimes with their own maddened twists tacked onto the bottom.
When you finish browsing them, and feeling tempted by the money they’d give you if you could win, you walk into the underground pub.
But not before your feet clink on something, looking down, you find a small brown leather bag, and inside a set of small cards, purple in color and engraved with the cities symbol you’ve seen around the walls and on a few guard uniforms as well as some numbers.
You feel rather happy picking it up. Your first set of money in this world, and you got it by simply exploring. Perfect!
A glass of beer shatters next to you as you do, making you flinch, but you can’t see who threw it through the large amount of sweaty people clumped together in the relatively small pub.
Rickety wooden chairs and equally unstable looking tables line the bar under small old looking lanterns. The floorboards creek and the place smells of sweat, gas and beer already.
You spot what looks like a large ring of people, cheering and shouting as two large, sweaty women duke it out, asses, glasses and coins flying everywhere as they fight each other and the customers bet on it.
You…. really can’t bring yourself to like the idea. The sweat makes the bar stink horribly and the floor feels sticky as you walk. It's really not a certified place. But its probably a better place for gathering information then the other pub.
Especially if the suit clad bartender wiping glasses and watching the fight is anything to go by.
Suddenly, a person comes flying and hits your chest, sending you back A few meters, but stopping as you slam your back onto a table.
You take a few seconds to recover, getting up and adjusting yourself. Everything goes quiet as you get up, as tension and expectation grow as they wait to see what you are going to do.
Eventually you move out of the way and approach the clerk, with the barkeeper smiling at you as he sees you approaching
"Well hello and welcome to the Crocodile's nest, don't question the name. What can I do for you?"
You take some time to consider your options, but you also know that you gotta be fast, staying in this place for much longer might be a terrible idea.
Maybe you could…
