Time For A Quick Date or Two: Part Two Mission Vao
"Eh?! What do you mean?"
Walt rubbed the back of his neck looking at Mission and thinking while looking around the Star Wars area. "Oh boy howdy... Give me a minute... That's a tough one to explain just right. Our adventures that we had happened thousands of years before most of the current adventures in your settings franchise. That's why things look familiar but also totally different-"
The young Rutian Twi'lek shook her head and her lekku agitatedly. "Yeah, that part I get and that other stuff is odd but makes sense in a way... but this other stuff is all wrong and weird!"
Walt sighed and nodded crossing his arms. "I totally understand where you're coming from. It IS weird and nonsensical after the first two trilogies. Basically the guy who came up with your setting got three great movies and then three more pretty good prequels, the games were the same ranging mostly from pretty good to epic. He was also smart enough to gather a bunch more excellent writers for the comics and books and they built a ton of really good lore and ideas... But then he sold the company and the rights to the people who built this place and others. In fact the only reason this reality has this park is because they bought Marvel too! But this " world" is a multiversal one so when they went to make more movies it just spawned another multiverse... They didn't do that with yours. So they scrapped a lot of what was canon making it non-canonical so they could make three new movies with their own new stories and then made the decision to try to drop focus on things this company is squeamish about like plasma swords loping off limbs, etc. They also went too hard on the nostalgia and pushing "edgy" angles and it got...well..."
Mission shook her head again. "It got sillier and sillier and not in a good way because the story suffered? Is that what you're telling me?"
Walt shrugged but nodded. "There are some fans of the new stuff... But not as many as the older fans who hate a lot of it. They really should have kept or tried to work with the older stuff, had a more consistent and better story to tell or tried to just setup a multiversal canon but they didn't. For whatever reason they approached it differently and poorly. It still sold... But not like it should have so they got stuck peddling weak sauce because they tampered with the formula of the recipe to much. They made the same mistake to lesser degrees with the Marvel stuff later but only after they'd already made a whole slew of hits that made them a ton of credits. But for Star Wars-"
Mission sighed pinching the bridge of her nose. "They were stuck with what they'd done... And so was everyone else from the looks of it. It gives me a bit of a headache."
Walt blinked. "Well I'm not a fan of what they did either but it's not that bad in my opinion. I mean it's more mediocre and disappointing then " god awful" bad but there were a few things that were ok-"
"No, not that," Mission said. "The fact that the fate of all our worlds can be changed like that! That a bigger threat to them then the Primes themselves is... Is..."
"Is bad marketing and corporate decisions?" Walt asked guessing where this was heading.
"Yes!" Mission said. "That! That a couple bad business decisions could compromise the storytelling and that would snowball into... Into this!"
Walt shrugged looking around the Star Wars area at the First Order, New Rebel Aliance and some of the other newer setting things. "The people who own the park are the same ones who made the changes. They have a vested interest in telling/pushing their story. In my world almost a hundred years later almost no one remembers the original storylines anymore. In another hundred years they'll have been forgotten almost as if they never were. "
Mission rubbed her arms and shivered as if she was suddenly cold. "And... if Someone else changes things? If I were written out of the "canon" what would happen to me? Would I and my friends... cease to exist? Would everything we went through be reduced to nothingness, Revan?"
Walt hugged her and held her close. He could see the thought worried her. "That could have but didn't happen. You're safe. Our friends are "safe". Infact our adventures had a big lasting impact on the canon even thousands of years later. What we did ended up mattering quite a bit."
Mission Vao sighed and squeezed him back. He was a bit older, so was she all grown up now... but Revan, her Revan, was still the same man. Her rescuer, companion and friend. She breathed in. He smelled like old leather and soap. Like trees and hay. *Like our new home,* she realised. *I like it... he still hugs the same. Touches me the same,* she thought as he stroked her head gently making her lekku twitch. *but...* "Thank you," she said. "But I'm not a child anymore you know?"
Walt shook his head and held her tighter. "You were never a "child" to begin with. You were a few years south of full physical maturity when we first met, true. But you were a shrewd negotiator and slicer. You took care of Zaalbar who was still immature by wookie reckoning. You grew up fast and hard fending for yourself... like I did. You were hardly a "child" and hadn't been for a longtime."
Mission smiled. "That's right... you grew up fast too. I remember you telling me that..." she trembled. "Revan... Sorry, I meant Walter-"
"You can just call me Walt if you like, Mission. Or anything you want to my dear," he said stroking. "Are you cold? It's pretty warm out. If you aren't feeling well I-"
"My lekku," she said quietly looking up at him and saying before biting her lip. "You're touching them..."
Walt froze and swallowed. "S-Sorry I honestly forgot-"
"Don't be," she said. "That one other time before... you said I was too young... even though I told you how I felt." She nuzzled his hand. "I understood then and you and Bastila were... but like Jubilee I'm no longer "too young" anymore... yes?" She knew the answer... she felt it swelling, hardening in his pants against her.
He nodded and cleared his throat. "That *Ahem*... That's certainly true. You're not "too young" anymore." He felt her supple body pressed against his. She'd always been pretty but now she was quite exceptionally attractive example of her exotic and beautiful race. Even more so to him since- "Mission... You're a dear friend and I always care about you-"
"You always have," she said softly and reached up to touch his face. "My feelings from then haven't changed. I'm still attracted to you. Smitten even... do you miss Bastila? You have so many lovers now... but I could ease your loneliness too and-"
"Shush," he said. He held her and while he didn't continue stroking her lekku he didn't move his hand away. Infact he rubbed it very softly and kissed her head. "I can't just sleep with you... I care about you too much for something that casual. But if you would like to-"
"Yes!" She whispered it but firmly. "I want that. I have already discussed it with the others so... please? When you go to my "world" take me with you... and then, if not before, we could-"
"We will," he told her. "But we'll take it a bit slowly alright? I don't want to hurt you. You're special to me and I-"
"Excuse me?"
They blinked and turned and saw some park patrons. "Sorry to interrupt," said one girl holding her camera. "But you're not with the "cast" right? We love your cosplay! Can we take a picture?"
They both blushed a little but then laughed. "Sure!" Mission said. "I don't mind... oh!" She grabbed Walt's hand firmly. "Could you take a few pictures of me and my "boyfriend" for us in exchange?"
Walt blinked... then grinned and squeezed her hand. "Yes, please if you don't mind?"
The camerawoman grinned too nodding. "Awwww! You got it! Say "Star Wars!" Nice!" She started snapping some pictures for them. "That's good! How about a bit closer together? Oh nice! Now put your arm around- oh! Perfect! You two are so cute together! Do you do this often?"
They started laughing posing and mugging it up for the camera. "Actually," Walt said "We're big fans obviously and old friends. Star Wars brought us together you could say... but this is our first date!"
"How sweet! That it brought you together!"
Mission blushed but smiled happily. "That's certainly true... from a certain point of veiw." She giggled. "Do you suppose it was the force?" She jokingly teased.
"Dude," said another man coming up with his camera. "Can I get a pic too? I love the whole "Aayla Secura in street clothes" vibe you got going on!"
Mission started to open her mouth but another guy butted in. "Dude she's obviously either Ann or Tann Gella the twins from-"
"Wrong!" Another guy butted in. "She's got to be gender bent Gobi Glie! I know because-"
"Oh my glob!" Interjected another. "Are you on Spice?! She's Isval of the Free Ryloth movement!"
"Close but no womp rat, my friend," another interjected. "She's a chick so she's the Free Ryloth movements strategist Kaasha Bateen obviously-"
"I'm afraid that The Force is wrong with this one!" Yet another fan interrupted. "The Rebel pilot Yendor-"
"She is not!" Argued another fan. "The Galactic Republic Senator Orn Free Taa, she is! Hmmm... Yes-"
"No," Mission said getting irritated at not being recognized or asked. "I'm-"
"Are you blind? She's not some old, fat senator dude! She's totally Mission Vao!" Said the one who'd initially taken their picture... then blinked and turned to them. "You are, right? You were one of my favorites from the game!"
Mission was stunned that she was recognized and Walt grinning elbowed her. "Oh! Uh, yes! I'm Mission Vao! Twi'lek adventurer, slicer and scoundrel extraordinaire and companion of Revan who saved the galaxy and the Republic from the Sith!"
Most of the photographers smiled and took her picture as she posed but some of the geeks started wandering away. "Damn... I thought she might have been someone cool." "Who cares about that twerp?" "Weirdo."
Walt glared and Mission looked mildly hurt until the first lady said, "Don't mind the Dark Side trolls! I loved your character! So much so my play through was mostly Revan, Mission and Zaalbar!"
Mission grinned and elbowed Walt. "Hey, hey!" She whispered. "You use that dimensional thing to carry around bunches of stuff, right? You don't happen to have "it", do you? Please?"
Walt looked into her pleading eyes and sighed rolling his eyes but smiling. It was one of his favorite "cheats" to use. "Fine but we gotta make it fast. A working lightsaber isn't generally a thing seen often in this world."
He turned around so he could reach into his "jacket" and pulled out the old style Mandalore Revan mask and put it on his face while slipping Mission a blaster. Then with a theatrical turn and flourish activated his lightsabers. His purple bladed Jedi saber and his crimson bladed Sith saber hissed as they sprang to life. He moved one way and Mission the other and they posed as they watched each others backs like so many times before.
There was cheering and clapping especially from the lady fan! "Ohmigawd! Mission and Revan on a casual date in the park! Bastila will be so jelly! Turn this way? Way too perfect! What a great shot! I love it! Here give me your email and I'll send you copies!"
But as Mission exchanged adresses Walt saw trouble. First Order Storm Troopers/park employees were pointing at them and heading their way with cries of "Jedi". Walt put away his sabers and grabbed Mission as the crowd parted. "Friday unlock magic circuits..." he cast the spell and telekineticly "pushed" lightly. The Storm Troopers bowled over dramatically as everyone clapped and took pictures.
He turned to Mission. "Sorry. We've got to go. Attracted too much attention." Some of the photographers were looking through their pictures and he heard someone say, "Wait a sec... before he put on the mask. Isn't that the guy in the news as the new head of Stark Unlimited?"
Mission shrugged but nodded smiling. "Well it was fun while it lasted... sorry folks! We gotta go but you've all been lovely! So-"
They both laughed and said it together. "May The Force be with you... always!"
People cheered and clapped as they quickly made their exit. The First Order guys struggled to their feet and played along looking around. "Which way did they go?" And as attendees laughed and pointed in various directions they set off "in pursuit" the wrong way.
An employee came up to them. "Hello folks. Would you like too... meet... the cast?"
Walt had waved his hand casting again as the hypnotize spell. "You'll provide a distraction and lead us to the nearest exit." He paused then shrugged smirking and pulled out a bill. He'd already cheated. "And two Fuzzy TaunTauns from the Cantina to go!"
Their eyes were glassy for a seccond before they blinked and nodded. "Right. Hang on a second." They lifted their radio up. "We need all available cast members who are free in the main area for a breif appearance." She turned and said, "Let's get you folks out of here quickly. Follow me. There are exits this way that'll take you to the next area." She started texting on her phone to a colleague who owed her a favor stationed by the cantina.
Mission smiled. "Thank you." They quickly followed the enployee towards the cast "meet and greet" area then backstage for a bit towards an exit. "Did you use The Force?"
Walt shrugged taking of his mask and winked. "I don't know... did I?" A young lady walked by and handed them two frozen alcoholic drinks with a smile.
Mission laughed as they came out in a totally different area behind the restrooms and they waved goodbye to the employee and her friend who smiled and waved closing the exit. "You were always the best at little dramatic entrances and exits like that. At least there were no Explosions or cutting our way through bulkheads this time!"
Walt chuckled as she handed over the blaster and accepted her drink and he tucked it and everything else away as she sipped. "Oh! That's strong and refreshingly fruity!" She smirked. "Fun date!"
Walt smiled and nodded offering her his arm. It was nearly time to meet the other's and get out of the park. "Yes," he lifted his cup and winked. "Until the next one?"
Mission grinned and tapped her cup to his. "Definitely!"
