Tilly's Terrific Taskmaster (Complete)

Tilly looked at herself in the mirror. She hated what she saw. She pinched some belly fat and groaned. She was fat, ugly and stupid. At least in her own opinion of herself.

She turned away from the mirror in anger and threw herself down on her bed. Why couldn't she pull it together? Her life felt like a slow motion trainwreck, and she felt powerless to stop it.

She'd been laid off two weeks ago and today was her first interview since then. She'd been trying to pick out a nice outfit to wear but everything made her look gross.

She groaned, why even bother going? She had no relevant experience. She had no experience at all really. She felt like the brief stints she'd had fluttering from job to job barely counted. She had no education, well besides her GED. She had no prospects.

Still she needed to get this job. Her fridge was pretty much as empty as her bank account, not to mention her rent was due soon. She couldn't go back home, she just couldn't. She was like this because of them after all.

So eventually she got up, threw on whatever, and headed out. The interview was for a fast food restaurant, they didn't really care what she wore, right?

Or maybe they did. About an hour later Tilly was sitting outside the restaurant eating a large fry. Bought with the last of her money. From the restaurant that had rejected her minutes into her interview.

She groaned. What am I going to do? Finishing her fries she got up and started to walk home. Suddenly a door opened in front of her and a woman stepped out. She held a poster in her hands and started to tape it to the shop window, but it kept rolling up on her and she was clearly struggling.

"Need help?" Tilly offered.

The woman beamed at her, "Oh yes. Please. Could you just hold this end like this?"

Tilly helped the woman tape the poster. She couldn't help but read it, "You're looking for someone to test your app?" She asked l.

The woman nodded, "Yep. Sure are. Why? Are you interested?"

Tilly was focused more on the $500/week the store was offering and glossed over everything else, "Uh ya. I've never tested an app before but uh..." Tilly froze up, could she really bluff her way into a job?

"Never? Like never ever? Really?" The woman asked. Tilly nodded, "Oh my God that's perfect! Come inside, I'll get you signed up!"

Tilly was shocked, but the woman grabbed her hand and pulled her inside anyway. Just before they entered she finally noticed the store name, Celestial Delights. Had it always been here? Tilly couldn't recall ever seeing it.

"By the way I'm Didi, owner. What's your name?"

"Tilly."

"What a beautiful name. Ok Tilly just follow me to the back." Didi pulled her along, deep into the store.
