When Tiffany arrives home, you run at her crying. “I’m sorry, don’t hate me.” You grab her in a **** hug with a hand on her neck, holding her to your shoulder.

“What?” Tiffany yelps, confused.

You hear Merry behind you as she explains, “Apparently, grandmother is asking her to live with her due to us going to state university.”

“What does that have to do with hating?” Tiffany says, struggling in your arms.

“Jessica goaded her on to cause me problems,” Merry states with exasperation.

“Seriously. Mom, we don’t hate you. It’s normal for kids to move out.”

“That’s a lie! I know it’s twenty out of a hundred.”

Tiffany sighs, “What does that even mean?” But she seems to give up and just let you hug her.

You continue to hold her well after the signal that she leveled. Eventually, you manage to calm down and pull Tiffany towards the table. “I made all your favorite meals!” You desperately say while gesturing at the table.

Your girls give you a half-hearted smile and thank you. They eat the food even though it’s cold. They don’t complain. The awkward dinner soon ends, and the girls flee to their rooms, making you feel awful. “Today was the worst,” you grumble as you wash the dishes.
