Tiefling

Tieflings have fiendish ancestry. They have features associated with the fiend they are related to. The closer the relation, the stronger the traits. Examples of common physical traits are horns, tails, sharp teeth, increased tolerance to heat, skin with red-purple or blue-purple shades, and claws. Functional wings are only present in those directly descended from a fiend with wings. Vestigial wings are common.

Tieflings also have the ability to digest and gain nutrents form normaly undigestable mataerals. This can be useful in extreme survival situations. The ability to do so is magical, not physical. The act of consuming such objects triggers the magic in their bodies to convert the object into a form of energy that their bodies can absorb.

Tieflings inherently have access to some magic. They can cast this magic by drawing from the fiendish energy that is in their blood. This is not a metaphor for genetics; the magic that allows them to digest indigestible materials is contained within their bloodstream. Because of this, tieflings are sometimes hunted or kept enslaved for the use of their blood in magical rituals.

Tieflings face bias in society for their fiendish roots, their magic powers, and their demonic appearance. Humanoid parents of tieflings or the community may abandon or seclude their tiefling children. Despite this, the children often survive well, if traumatized, due to their ability to eat anything. Being abandoned is an unfortunate but common experience for tieflings. There are charities and organisations dedicated to ending the stigma and helping stop the abandonment of tieflings.
