Royal Reactions...

Three crowns of the Tri-

“What do you mean the supply cache was overrun?” the man intoned.

“We were ambushed by warriors bearing magical swords,” the Goriya bowed his weasel like head.

“Are you saying that a group of children or old men defeated you?” One of the Gurudo witch-warrioresses snapped from her seat by the map table.

“Not men, not boys,” the Goriya decided to tell the half-truth, “Women… but not Hylean…”

“Are you saying that Gurudo women attacked you within the boarders of Hyrule?” the man asked with a disturbing calm to his voice.

“I can’t say Master,” the Goriya said, “I didn’t see any markings on the armor, I just know that we were attacked, and I was cut down.”

The Goriya looked up and to the left to show off the fading glow of the magical blow to the right side of his neck.

“Very well,” the man said, “Thank you for your report…”

The man made a gesture to dismiss the Weasel like Goriya and turned back to the map. As the Goriya turned to leave the man raised his hand and without looking cast a bolt of lightning into the Goriya’s back electrocuting him.

“Hesha, please be a dear and take out the trash,” the man said to his servant while looking down at the map before him, “Now this is the location of the supply cache we had taken over…”

“Ok, Peach said as she picked her hand back up, “This is creepy.”

Of the containers in the supply room, only one was unmolested. The brass lock had the same three triangle forming one large triangle design carved into the lock plate and the spring-loaded tab. When Peach reached down and touched the chest, the lock opened, but when she removed her hand, it locked again. Peach had known about magical items, her kingdom was full of them, but none had behaved with the sort of self-awareness that this chest was showing. Whoever had made this was clearly more skilled than the Magikoopas that had made the wands for each of Bowser’s brats, and those were some of the most powerful magical tools she had seen made.

“I guess I should see what is in it,” Peach took a deep breath and reached down grabbing the lid on either side with her hands and opening it, “Uh… Ok…”

While the chest was easily big enough for Peach to curl up inside of it, there was only a small pillow, the size of her hand, with a single earring on it. Peach looked around and then looked back at the earring. It was a blue jade orb about the size of a corn kernel hanging from a silver hook.

“Might as well try it,” Peach said as she reached down.

The pillow seemed to float up into her hand and she swore she heard a trumpet somewhere in the distance. As Peach grabbed it, the whole thing shot up until her hand was high above her head and then suddenly it vanished.

“What the?” Peach snapped as she felt her ears, “Right, anything I grab is magic so of course I am already wearing this earing.”

Peach kept her hand over her right earlobe and the earring for a second longer before turning.

“The message said the intruders were in these supply caches,” the screech of a voice said.

Peach moved to the side of the room behind some shelves. Four more of those weasel-men came into the room.

“Master said they were to be captured alive and interrogated,” another one of those weasel-men said.

The four split up and turned to check the room for Peach and who ever these other people that they were looking for were. Peach waited and tried to remain in the shadows, but she was keenly aware that she was wearing a bright pink rubber catsuit and tunic and a metal breast plate.

“Hay, this passage wasn’t here before,” one of the weasel-men shouted from the passage that had led Peach into this room.

Maybe she could sneak past them after all. Peach’s hopes were dashed when she saw that only two went down the hallway. The third one stayed at the passage into the back rooms, while the fourth one went to the entry to the supply room. Peach thought for a second. She shrugged to herself, and started enacting her plan. Peach drew the sword and shield and switched them so she held the sword in her left hand and the shield in her right. It was not a rapier or saber, but the short sword would have to do. Peach took a deep breath and charged, at the last second, she dropped and slid into the weasel-man and stabbed him in the belly with the blue glowing blade of the short sword. Peach’s Plan was working, the weasel-man vanished in a flash of light before he could react to the attack, and Peach had her shield up to deflect the boomerangs from the other weasel-man across the room.

“I found one!” The weasel-man shouted as he raised a Boomerangs to hurl at Peach.

Peach blocked the boomerang with her shield. Peach noticed a Boomerang on the ground where the weasel-man had been. She grabbed it and hurled it at the second weasel-man guarding the passage. The boomerang hit the weasel-man in the forehead causing the figure to evaporate in a bright blue flash of light.

“Get them!” the leader of the second group of weasel-men shouted as he approached the opening of the passage.

Peach grabbed another boomerang and moved behind a rack of supply crates. She readied herself and hurled the curved wooden weapon at the third weasel-man in the group as he appeared. She pulled her sword and shield back out and went around to the other side of the shelving unit and charged at the fourth and final weasel-man when he appeared looking for her. He had his arm raised and ready to throw a boomerang at her, Peach thought fast.

“Shoot him!” Peach called over her shoulder to the right.

It worked, the weasel-man looked to his left and turned slightly looking for whoever the woman charging at him had called to. Peach closed the distance and brought up the shield to block and punch the him as she got close enough to strike him with her sword. The Weasel-man evaporated in a blue flash of light. Peach turned to face the outer entrance to the supply room waiting to see if more of those weasel-men appeared.

“What the…” Peach muttered as her sword and shield started to glow.

A soft green glow appeared around the plan sword and shield; red stones appeared on at the center on either side of the short sword, and the brass band turned to iron. She noticed that line work appeared on the small shield’s face as well.

“So this world is filled with weird magic…” Peach muttered to herself in disbelief.

There was no sign of activity from the front entrance to the storage room, so Peach made her way out and carefully looked for traps and more of those weasel-men as she went. As she did, she found a camp in one of the outer chambers. In the outer room Peach stopped and arched an eyebrow at the sight of the short bow and a quiver of arrows.

“I guess I can use this,” Peach said as she put her sword and shield away and then grabbed the bow and quiver, “Oh, right magic.”

The bow and quiver both disappeared and then the quiver appeared on Peach’s belt and the bow appeared strung and in her left hand. Peach let out a sigh before thinking for a second, she tried putting the bow into the quiver and both seemed to disappear from her belt.

“Maybe…” Peach said reaching into the pouch at the small of her back, she found a miniature bow and as she pulled it out, it became the short bow and the quiver of arrows reappeared at her hip, “Ok so that is how this works… It makes a sort of sense… I guess…”

“Your Majesty,” a maid said to Zelda, “Are you alright?”

Zelda turned and focused her eyes on the maid. She had been staring off into the distance after starting to ask the maid about when dinner would be.

“I am… something has happened, I am unsure,” Zelda confessed, “Tell my father I will be in the tower.”

Princess Zelda rushed off to arcane tower to consult with the Tri-**** of Wisdom.
