Shall we delve a little deeper?
Thralls
An interesting and tragic topic of discussion. The servants of Vampires, these unfortunate souls are twisted hybrids of the living and their masters.
Birthed via a dark ritual, thralls are like Demi-vampires. They share features and powers that their patrons hold, but the curse runs much deeper.
For one, they are truly undead. The ritual kills them and brings their corpse back to life into a Necromantic state where they have their master’s likeness. They are also wholly embraced by the shadows, hit like an infection that the sun purifies and is burned by most curatives like water, garlic, and salt.
Their visage is also twisted by the curse. Some sporting gnarly grins that show off their fangs, others having pale of skin due to lack of blood flow, and other misshapen features.
Like their masters, they also require life essence to survive, the most popular means being drinking blood; give or take the few exceptions.
Thralls are also far more numerous than their masters and are typically their agents. Thus it is far more likely one comes across a thrall than a vampire. It is because of this, the populace tend to mistaken thralls for actual vampires. Truly, only those that are educated or experienced on the topic know the difference.
A thrall is also completely and utterly devoted to their master, their minds bound by the blood tie to be gleeful servants. They no longer have free will in this state and do as their masters command.
The only escapes are **** or for their master to perish. If a vampire were to die, then thralls with a strong will and well nourished in life essence get to survive and regain their free will. Though, most tend to not desire life as a cursed parasite.
End of lecture.
