Chapter 28
Where do they hide?
This is a closet, right?
"Quick! In there!" Mary said in a gushed voice as she grabbed Steven's hand and lead him towards a closet, the two stepping inside as Mary closed it tightly.
"There! I think we're good." Mary whispered with a soft chuckle.
"You might wanna rethink that..."
Confused, Mary turned around to see Steven pointing at a man snoring loudly at his desk while dressed in a security officer's uniform.
"This isn't a closet..." Mary squeaked, the two once again finding themselves trapped between a security guard and a yokel wanting their picture.
With no skunk bomb to save them this time...
"Okay, we just need to get into the terminal, split up and ask around. Hopefully, somebody who isn't a security guard must have spotted at least one of them." Tyrone said as they pulled into the parking lot.
"Yeah, uh, hi? Only wearing a t-shirt here." Dana said, "Can't I just borrow a pair of pants or something before I go in?"
"Hey, you're already ruining one of my shirts with that smell of yours! You ain't getting my pants, too!"
"Oh, here!" Jessica groaned as she reached under her skirt and pulled her thong off, throwing it into the backseat. "I was going to lose them tonight, anyway."
"Okay, we just need to back out slowly." Steven said carefully as they backed away. "Perhaps that hillbilly will -"
"Well now! That there door looks promisin'..."
"I don't suppose you have a Plan B?!" Mary whispered harshly.
Looking around, Steven began to panic before he saw an open window behind the sleeping guard. "I do... But you're not gonna like it."
"Excuse me, Girls!" Jessica called out as she approached two women in the terminal, causing the two to come to a stop. Pulling out her phone, Jessica pulled up a picture of Mary and a picture of Steven that Tyrone had sent her. "Have either of you seen these two? Only... Well, let's just say they're wearing two completely different types of outfits."
"Hmm..." The first woman said as she eyed the pictures. "Can't say that I have. You seen either of them, Alex?"
"Nope." The second girl, Alex, responded. "Never seen them before. Speaking of 'seen', where the hell is Jane, Caroline?"
"Last I saw, she was talking with some shady guy over by the bathrooms." Caroline replied.
"'Shady guy'?! Did he have a camera?!" Jessica demanded.
"Not that I saw."
"Well, thank you anyway." Jessica said as she made her way towards the bathrooms, leaving the two alone.
"Ugh! Leave it to Jane to do something stupid..." Alex groaned.
"Hey, just think on the brightside." Caroline said, placing a hand on her friend's shoulder. "Soon, we'll be on Daddy's yatch in sunny Brazil..."
"Never seen her be- Wait, I think she might be in my science class." One of three college girls said as she eyed the picture of Mary that Tyrone showed them.
"Really, I don't remember seeing her on campus." The second girl said as she scratched her head. "What about you, Sam?"
The third, taller girl looked at one of the terminals eagerly while holding a sign reading "Welcome Home, Charlie!" before her brain finally registered that she had been addressed. "Hmm? Sorry, Eve. Did you say something?"
"This guy asked if we saw these two." Eve replied, "Then Robin here said that she was in her science class, and I said -"
"Look! I don't have time for this!" Tyrone interrupted impatiently, "Have you three seen these two recently or not?"
"No." Robin said.
"Sorry." Sam apologized.
"Nope." Eve responded, before narrowing her eyes with a frown. "And you don't have to be rude about it."
"Thank you." Tyrone merely said, not wanting to get into any arguements as he turned to walk away.
"... So have you seen them?" Dana asked a nineteen year old woman in clothes that looked like she had bought them from the airport gift shop, the latter looking over the barely dressed hotel security guard. With a sigh, Dana said, "Yeah, sorry about the clothes and smell. I've had a pretty bad night. I got sprayed by a couple of skunks, and... I really don't wanna get into it."
"That's what a skunk smells like?" The woman asked in disgust, "Geeze, no wonder they were hunted to extinction in 20- er, I mean... I'm from Alaska. Too cold for skunks up there."
"Okay..."
"As for your clothes, no worries. I've seen people walking around completely naked my entire life." The woman said, earning a look of confusion from Dana. The woman then quickly added, "I lived in a nudist resort."
"A nudist resort... In Alaska?"
"Well, I... Uh..." The woman stammered. "Sorry, I gotta get going."
And with that, the woman spun on her heel and bolted away from the confused Dana, but not before the latter heard the former mutter, "Dang it, Sophie! You almost pulled a Carol!"
Dana merely stood there before shaking her head. "Nutcase."
"Ah know ya'll are in there, Lovebirds!" Gus said eerily behind the door.
"Are you sure about this?" Mary asked as she quietly stepped out of the window, Steven close behind.
"What other choice do we have?" Steven asked in reply as he climbed out. "We just wait for the guard to wake up when the backwater yokel barges in. And while they're busy..."
"We climb back in and make a run for the beach!" Mary finished.
"Exactly!" Steven said as the two ducked below the window, hearing the door burst open with the flash of a camera.
"AH-HA! Ah got yooooooooooooooooOh boy..."
"Huh? Wha-?" The guard asked, suddenly awake before letting out a surprised gasp. "What the hell?! Have you no shame, boy?!"
"N-now Ah can explain this..."
"We should probably get going, yeah?" Steven asked.
"Hold on, I kinda wanna watch this..."
"... Yeah, me too."
"What happened next?" Cassie asked.
"Well..." Steven said as he and Mary looked at each other briefly, "Remember when you were five and you kept constantly asking your mother and I for a dog?"
"Wait..."
"You know," Steven said as they watched Gus arguing with the guard, "when this is over, we should get something to eat. All this running around must be making you hungry."
"Wait..." Mary whispered, giving Steven a quizzical look. "You mean that growling isn't your stomach?"
A cold chill went up the couple's spines as they turned to look behind them, coming face to face with two German Shepherds growling at them.
"Heh..." Steven chuckled nervously, "N-nice puppies..."
Can the two get away without being seen?
