Chapter 3 by SimpleWriter SimpleWriter

Anything happen on their way there?

They encounter a trio of girls, and Troy put his ring on his left hand

Author's Note: Credit to Crushedforlife and Dlork. This thread is going to start off repeating a lot of stuff from their pages, just with a different decision slowly sending things in a different direction. I will try to move through some of the early stuff quickly to keep from just copying a ton of what they wrote.

Susan took off down that hallway, and Troy followed close behind her. She didn't want to get to the study session late, so she was moving quickly. However, when they passed another sitting area, she noticed him slowing down and looking at a table with three girls.

Susan paused to get a good look at the girls and asked, "Know them?"

Troy had just been stopping to check out the redhead, but hearing her question, he responded, "Actually, I do." He immediately wondered why he'd said that, he'd never met any of these girls. Then it occurred to him that he somehow knew their names. "I mean, I guess I do. I don't remember where I know them from, but the redhead's Caroline Widogast, a psychology major. The other two are Mina and Sana, America-Japanese twins who are both studying linguistics."

The brunette girl crossed her arms dubiously. "So you know these very good looking girls, but you don't know from where. I think you probably saw them online and cyber-stalked them."

"No!" objected Troy. "I just... I can't remember where I know them from."

Susan shrugged. "Think they remember you?"

"Absolutely!" said Troy enthusiastically. He regretted it immediately, and wondered why he had been so sure. "This is bugging me. Do you think the group will mind if we take a minute to find out where I know them from?"

Normally, Susan would have known that the group would totally get annoyed at them being late. However, unlike Troy, her ring was on her right hand, and she was completely oblivious to the effects of Troy's ring. "No, I'm sure they won't mind at all. Let's go ask them. I'm curious, too."

They walked up to the three girls, who were each working away behind a laptop at their table. As the pair got close, the redhead looked up and said, "Oh my gosh, Troy! We haven't seen you since History of Languages!"

"Oh, yeah, hi Caroline!" said Troy. He didn't remember even being in that class, but the hot redhead was now on her feet and hugging him tightly, and he wasn't going to argue with that.

"Hey, Troy!" said the twins in unison. They both smiled excitedly at Troy, their smiles just as oddly identical as their greeting.

Caroline gave Troy one last squeeze, then pulled out of the hug and said, "It's so good to see you!" Her smile was full of enthusiasm and charm, which she quickly directed at Susan. "Sorry, and you are?"

"Girls, this is Susan. She's a friend of mine."

There was giggling and knowing looks between the three girls. Then Caroline asked, ""Right. Friend as in friend, or friend as in girlfriend?"

Susan instantly felt the need to shut that down. "Please. He wishes I was his girlfriend, don't you Troy?"

Troy was suddenly hit with a wave of attraction towards his friend. He'd had some wistful thoughts towards her before, but this was much stronger than that, and it came out of nowhere. He didn't understand why he suddenly felt this way. He wondered if he'd always felt this way and just hadn't admitted it to himself until Susan said it out loud.

When Susan tried to shake her hand, Caroline instead pulled her into a big hug. "I'm Caroline!" She said a little too loud, but in a super friendly way. "This is Sana and Mina. Pleasure to meet you!"

"How you been Troy?" Sana asked. He wasn't at all sure how he knew which was which, but he did. "We've been good."

"Um, good, I guess." Troy was getting weirded out. He looked at Susan and said, "Hey, don't you think we should go?"

"Absolutely not!" said Susan, pulling up a seat to join the girls.

That made absolutely no sense to Troy. Susan was never late for anything, why would she put off the study session?

Susan really wanted to solve the mystery of how Troy could know girls this hot but not remember meeting them. "So Caroline, do you have any good stories about History of Languages class with Troy?"

Caroline lit up and started telling stories. Troy relaxed and sat down to listen. The stories weren't actually all that interesting, just standard stuff that happens in class, but she told them with so much enthusiasm that it was infectious.

As Caroline drove the conversation, Susan studied the Ameraisian twins. She'd always been fascinated by twins, especially identical twins, like these. They were both a little on the short side and looked like they were half-Asian, probably grown up in America, judging by their accents. Their faces were an extremely nice mix of the two races, and they had the great, long, black Japanese hair.

Meanwhile, Troy was almost freaking out. Caroline had story after story about conversations they'd had, study sessions they'd been in on, and everything. It was like she had perfect memory of a relationship that Troy couldn't remember at all, and the twins were nodding like they could remember it all, too. He looked to his friend and noticed how intently she was staring at the twins. "Jeez, Susan! You look like you're about to trip forward from your chair onto Sana and Mina! Are you going to leave these girls alone?"

Susan had been just curious before, but now she had to know everything about these twins. "Excuse me, but I have to know. Are you two identical?"

"Yep!" said the girls in unison. They laughed, seemingly enjoying Susan's embarrassed urgency.

"Identical down to the birthmarks. Don't be embarrassed, ask away!" said Sana.

"Do you... share everything? Ahh, sorry." She caught herself, looking away. "I'm asking very stereotypical questions, I know."

The twins covered their mouths and laughed again. "It's fine," Mina said.

Sana followed up, "And we do, in fact, share everything."

The twins gestured down to show that they were wearing the exact same outfit. Blue skirts with red sweaters.

Normally, Troy would encourage this, but his frustration over the weirdness of the situation was frustrating him. "Susan, don't be ridiculous! It's not like they're the same person, or like they're trying to exaggerate how identical they are, right girls?"

"Right," said the twins in unison.

Troy stood up so quickly that he knocked his chair over backwards. A moment ago both the twins had been wearing red sweaters. Now Sana was wearing an orange sweater and Mina was wearing a purple one. They matched, but their colors were different.

Did Troy figure out what was happening?
