They ask the druid for help

When we get back to the village, I go and collect my clothes first. Though when I go inside, I can see Kaileigh already there, getting dressed. I try my best to hurry, but she finishes first and leaves. I hope Gawain is waiting behind the corner. Though when I leave the barn, I find him waiting right next the door and I get worried.

“Did Kaileigh notice you?” I ask.

“Yeah, she did.” Gawain tells me. “I think she figured out we got together.”

“Oh no.” I sigh. “We’re going to be the talk of the village again.”

Gawain takes me by the hand and says, “Let’s worry about that later. First, we need to get my clothes.”

Together, we walk over to the other side of the village. Just as Gawain is about to enter the building there, the door opens and Zayden comes out. He sees Gawain and me and immediately raises his eyebrows.

“Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone.” Zayden assures us.

“Actually, you can tell Kaileigh. She has seen us already.” Gawain tells Zayden. Brother pretty much confirms what Zayden is already thinking that way. “But could you also ask her not to tell anyone? Just discuss it between the two of you.”

Zayden gives us a thumbs up and says, “Sure, no problem.”

Once Zayden leaves, Gawain goes in to get dressed. As I am waiting, I wonder why Zayden and Kaileigh were both returning when we were. They couldn’t have spied on us, could they? Or maybe, it’s because Zayden caught Kaileigh. I can’t think about it anymore as my thoughts get interrupted by Gawain exiting the building, all dressed now. This time, we head over to our village druid.

Our druid is an old man with white hair called Kevon. He is a very kind man and also an elder. Not only that but his wife, Caireann, is also one of the elders. That means, if we can convince them to support us, we will quickly have 2 of the 5 elders on our side.

Gawain knocks on the door multiple times and it takes a while for the druid to open, but eventually Kevon answers the door for us.

Gawain takes the lead and both apologizes and tells Kevon why we’re here. Kevon lets us in and Gawain tells him our whole story. About our first Samhain pairing last year, how both of us fell in love and how both of us wanted to be together. All the while, I simply hug Gawain’s arm, both feeling comforted by being close to my brother, as well as letting Kevon know I want to stay with him.

When it is Kevon’s turn to speak, he tells us about the reasons he believes the smith’s children were joined together by a Samhain child. He believes it to be form of punishment for their father. I could understand the ancestors trying to punish my father. I mean, with the way he kicked me out of the house. But we got paired last Samhain already and that was before I got kicked out. No wait, I didn’t get a Samhain child then.

All in all, Kevon declares that the only way he’ll support our love is if Gawain’s seed in my womb bears fruit. Then and only then will we have the support of the elders. But we will have to wait a month for the girls to get tested for pregnancy. In the meantime, Gawain and I can stay at the marshal’s place so we can be safe from our dad. Well, it’s better than nothing.

“Why don’t you stay the night here. You can use Aine’s old room.” Caireann suggests while looking at my brother. “It is too late to go wake up the marshal. Besides, your father should be asleep as well. He will only notice you didn’t return home tomorrow and if you wake up early, you’ll be at the marshal already.”

“That would be wonderful. Thank you, Caireann.” Gawain thanks the old woman.

Gawain and I get shown to the room and then the old couple goes back to bed.

“Well, we have one month where we don’t have to worry about our parents.” Gawain says. I hug him and say, “I hope I am pregnant with your child. Then we get the elders’ support forever.”

“I hope so too.”

As Gawain and I undress, I ask him about the druid. “Do you think he recognized our feelings for each other?”

“I don’t think he understands our love.” Gawain answers. “But I do believe he understands that the feelings we have are real. It means he understands that if we are **** to separate, it will hurt us both.”

“Yeah, Kevon has always done his best taking care of the whole village.” I reply as we both get into bed nude. “He will want to help us, but I feel that if he has to choose between us and the village, he will choose the village. It makes me sad to think about losing his support.”

Gawain places his hand on my head and caresses my hair.

“That is why we will have to think about a plan B, in case you don’t get pregnant. Like, leaving with the traveler clan.”

I take my brother’s hand and caress it myself. Then I notice my necklace resting on his chest. I look up at him and say, “Or maybe, we can try to increase the chances of you knocking me up. By getting more of your seed in me.”
