"Heather!" the door yelled as it burst open. She jolted in bed, and kicked Gavin in his temple, sending him crashing to the floor.

"Shit!" Heather shrieked, pouncing on the floor next to Gavin. He cursed like a pissed sailor as he cradled the left side of his head. She placed a hand on his back and looked up at the offending intruder.

Ashley's panicked blue eyes stared into her own, framed with flushed cheeks. "Fuck, not again!" she said.

"Ash! Knocking! It works!" Heather roared.

"Sorry!!!" she squealed. "I was... Heather, Brandon hasn't called and I can't get through to him! He and Chloe haven't come back, I don't know what to do!"

"Wait, what time is it?" Heather asked.

"Past 3," Ashley replied, trembling.

"3:04," Gavin groaned. Heather saw him regarding his watch. "Fuck, Chloe... urgh, I didn't think--"

"Stop that loverboy, don't start the blaming," Heather halted his thought. "Hey, Ash, which way did they go? I can call one of the rangers out here and we can go searching."

"Uh, well," Ashley thought. "Definitely toward the clearing. Right of the cabin off of the porch."

An old memory awakened in Heather's mind. "Did they go straight?"

"Yeah, straight through." Heather blanched, staring right through her friend, unnerving Ashley to no end "What... is it Heather?!"

"We gotta call the ranger station," she said. She snagged her shorts, pulling them on as she fumbled in a pocket for her phone.

Gavin, though still reeling for his impact, exchanged a grave glance with Ashley. "What going on, Heather?" he needed to ask.

"I think Brandon and Chloe are in trouble," she replied, storming out the door with her phone to her ear.
