There is something romantic in the air

You arrive just in time for the theater to start quickly you head to your places and sit down. The show is indeed very funny and even kind of familiar. It is about a gang of thieves trying to rob the treasure chamber of a corrupt noble. But the dialogues are very good and the jokes fit perfectly without destroying the excitement. The actors also do their best. You don’t know when it happened, but suddenly you notice that you hold hands with Omboran again. Or maybe you never stopped doing so and just notice it now.

Omboran probably noticed this too and looks up. Your eyes meet. You can feel your heartbeat getting faster. And then Omboran is reaching for your cheek and gently guides your face closer to his. This is going to be serious. If you don’t stop him now, you can’t deny that your relationship changes forever. But you don’t have any excuses why you would want this anyway. Spending time with Omboran showed you that he can be more than just your best friend. Maybe you should give it a try. Maybe you really feel more for him than just friendship. You just never noticed it until today.

The time is running up and before you can put more unnecessary thoughts into this, you give in and your lips meet in this dark room. For a short moment you care about nothing else. Not how this would affect your friendship, not the magic or the fact that you are in another world and also not that the kiss goes way longer than a normal one. Everything good has to end sometimes and you somehow have to break the kiss. But you keep holding hands and rest your head on Omboran’s shoulder for the rest of the show.

The theater ends with loud applause for the actors and while most of the people stay to congratulate the actors and ask some questions, you and Omboran are among the people who leave to enjoy the rest of the evening somewhere else. It is already late when you arrive at the academy, but you are still in time for some dinner, even if most students are already done. You can’t see Luna anywhere. This is kind of strange, you thought she would be the first one who questions you about every tiny detail. But according to her classmate Orin, nobody saw her since she left the academy this afternoon.

Omboran demands to accompany you to your room like a true gentlemen would. You allow it and even consider his behavior cute. When you arrive at your room you check if Luna is probably inside, which is not the case, before turning back to your new lover.

“Thank you, Omboran,” you say gentle, “this day was really great. I enjoyed it a lot.”

“I did so too,” Omboran agrees and holds your hand, “You are a great women. Does this mean … you thought about our offer from earlier? Luna and I are not a problem for you?”

“So eager to get me into your harem?” you ask naughty, “you want to tie me up like you do with Luna?”

“Only if you want to,” Omboran answers and blushes a little, “of course you can take all the time you want. There is no need to rush things.”

“Thank you, but I think I can give you an answer,” you say and smile, “if you see Luna before me, you can tell her I am in. I have no idea where this will lead us, but I am willing to find it out with you together.”

“I love you, Clare” Omboran says suddenly.

You are a little surprised. Of course you assumed he has some feelings for you, but this was unsuspected. But not unwelcome. You react by getting closer and you share a last, passionate kiss.

“See you in class, half-blood,” you say and fail miserably to sound cool.

“Looking forward to it, peasant,” Omboran replies joking and heads to his own room.

You walk straight to your bed and fall down. You bury your face in your thin cushion and purr happy like a cat that gets scratched. So much has happened today and you are so happy about it. You finished your biggest mission so far, you are probably allowed to take part in the apprentice exams soon and on top, you went on a date with Omboran. You avoided this for weeks because you feared that he would be disappointed if he finds out about you and Luna. You never would have expected things to turn out like this.

The evening is still young and most students are somewhere in the academy to study, hang out with friends or do some work. But today, you will not join them. Instead, you soon fall asleep. And you have one of the best dreams you ever had since you were reborn in this strange, but still beautiful world.
