Chapter 12 by ThomasMoro ThomasMoro

What does the Tin Man see?

The words "Surrender Dorothy"

"'Surrender Dorothy'," said the Tin Man. "Who's Dorothy?"

"I'm Dorothy," said Dorothy.

"You are?" asked the Tin Man. "I thought your name was Toots."

"My name is not Toots," said Dorothy. "That's what you call me. The Scarecrow calls me Dorothy -- and he's done so several times right in front of you. It's not my fault you weren't paying attention."

"So why do you want to surrender, Dorothy?" asked the Tin Man.

"I don't want to surrender," said Dorothy. "That must be a message from the Wicked Witch of the West. She's been trying to get her hands on these ruby-red slippers I've been wearing almost ever since I started off down the Yellow Brick Road."

"So?" said the Tin Man. "Just give them to her. You can always get new shoes."

"I'd rather not," said Dorothy. "But that's where the flying monkeys who took my clothes went so I guess I gotta go see the Witch anyway."

"But won't going there take us off the Yellow Brick Road, Dorothy?" asked the Scarecrow.

"I'm sorry, Scarecrow," said Dorothy. "But I finally decided my future lies beyond the Yellow Brick Road."

"So we're not going to the Emerald City?" asked the Scarecrow.

"Not right now," said Dorothy. "Right now we need to find a path to the Witch's Castle."

"Maybe that lion can help us out," said the Scarecrow.

"What lion?" asked Dorothy.

"That lion over there," said the Scarecrow. "The one with the clenched fists."

What happens next?
