Chapter 8 by mask mask

Does the journey go as planned?

The turtle meets a mishap (pollution)

You follow the green backed turtle happily revealing in the new sense of freedom and enjoying the sun that pierces the waters surface, bringing to life the world around you and heating your scales and skin.

Honu occasionally swims to the waters surface to take a breath but you remain under water, still taken by the vastness of your own world.

You don't see all that many fishes or other marine life around you though and as you move further away from the protection of the mermaid sanctuary the water begins to darken.

You think that perhaps the plankton is blooming but there is so much of it it is making you a bit uncomfortable.

You stop daudaling and follow Honu more seriously who is swimming gracefully ahead of you.

You notice that something suddenly distracts your companion and it turns it's head to the side. You notice a translucent white creature drifting in the water and you think it might be a moon jellyfish.

Honu swims eagerly towards it seeming hunger and opens it's mouth to chomp down at it. You expect it to take a piece out of the jelly fish but unexpectedly it doesn't succeed.

It takes another bite then another, swallowing more of the jellyfish.

You swim towards it more concerned now as it begins to thrash in the water.

Speeding up you reach for it's shell that I dotted with barnacles.

Your hand slides over its shell then down and under its throat which the turtle has pulled back in distress.

You other hand reaches for the jellyfish which you realise as you feel the strange material under your hand, isn't what you thought it was.

Trying to sooth the turtle you tug the thing from its mouth. What comes out and the turtle immediatly moves towards the surface for air. You give it a push on it's way but remain where you are looking uneasily at the thing in your hand.

It isn't a jelly fish. You don't know what it is, but there is no life coming from it.

Soon enough the Honu joins you again but you can still sense a measure of distress and fright form it, and it seems a lot less energetic than when you first left on your journey.

You could continue on with the turtle to look for granny maiden. But the decisions trike you as a bit selfish.

Perhaps you could accompany it back to the sanctuary. You could also ask them about the strange thing Honu choked on.

On the other hand. You think that the turtle could make the journey back on its own without your help, and you could continue on to find Granny maiden.

The experience had given you a fright and you feel like you've already lost a layer of your naive innocence in this journey. But perhaps Granny maiden could explain to you what was happening to the oceans as well?

What do you decide to do?
