What do you tell Dana?
The truth
Taking a deep breath, you tell Dana what you remember of last night. As you speak, her eyes grow wider and wider, and her expression becomes horrified. Finally, you finish your story, and Dana reaches out to wrap you in a hug. "I'm so glad you're okay," she bursts out. Really? you ask. You can't help but be surprised. While you do not remember everything, you recall enough to have painted Dana an accurate picture of last night's events. You had worried that she might hold that against you. "Of course," Dana replies, "It sounds as though you encountered the Wild Hunt. It's incredibly dangerous. If you get caught by it, you don't respawn, ever." How do you know all this? "All Priestesses of Anari are educated about the gods and other supernatural phenomenon like the Hunt," Dana explains. Really? So you know who the girl was? you inquire, unable to keep the interest out of your voice. Dana frowns, "She sounds like Eremis, the Huntress. She's a minor goddess. I don't think she even has worshipers, much less any priestesses. She takes turns leading the Hunt with other gods." That was a minor goddess you met last night. You really don't want to know what meeting a major one would be like. Suddenly, your glad Anari did not take offense at your desecration of her priestess. Who else leads the hunt? you ask, curious. Dana shrugs, "Vienna, Armok, possibly Valdur, some of the war gods, a wolf god or two. I think it's open to any god who wants to lead it. Although, it's usually one of the nastier ones who does." You nod. You can understand the attraction for some of the more bloodthirsty gods. Eremis hadn't seemed that bloodthirsty to you though. She seemed to enjoy the hunt more for the excitement of the chase more than anything else. You shake your head. You are not going to romanticize a dangerous goddess who could kill you as soon as look at you. Uh-uh. Bad idea.
Then, Dana notices the mark on your chest. "What's this?" she asks touching it. You shrug, I don't know, but it's where Eremis touched me last night, when she transformed me. Dana looks at it with concern. "Did she leave any other changes?" she asks. Nope, you reply, Just that. "What about your stats?" she inquires, still not reassured. Uh... You haven't checked. Idiot. You should've done it the minute you woke up. You check now.

You open your stats again, and look at the ability. Sure, the combat bonus might be nice, if it weren't for the fact that you're now some goddess' bitch boy. How often does the Wild Hunt occur? you ask Dana. "I don't know," she says frowning, "I think it's either during every full moon or every new moon." You go cold. Every full or new moon. That means every month. You think back to last night, trying to recall what the moon looked like. You remember several scenes being bathed in silver light. Every full moon then. "Why do you ask?" I have a new ability. It says I may have to join the Hunt again, you respond, your voice emotionless. "What!?" Dana cries, "What are you going to do?" You shrug. I don't know. Dana just keeps staring at you, worry and concern for you filling her eyes. You soften. "Look," you say gently, I have a month. I'll figure something out. Dana stares at you for a moment longer, then her face adopts a mulish look. "No. We have a month. We will figure something out." She sounds determined. You're nonplussed for a second, not understanding her meaning. When you do, you feel touched and oddly comforted. You're not sure how exactly Dana is going help you solve this problem, but her implicit promise makes you feel much better. You reach out a finger and tenderly stroke her cheek. Okay, you say, We have a month.
Dana sighs and leans her head against you. The two of you sit there a moment just holding each other as you try to process what has happened. Suddenly, you remember something. Shit! you exclaim, The spiders. They're probably waiting for their Sacred Seed. Dana looks up at you. "Don't worry. They came looking for you earlier this morning, but I told them you weren't here. They were a little disappointed, until I showed them all the samples we, uh, collected. They were ecstatic. They just bundled them up and scurried away." You give silently thanks for Dana. You reeeeally didn't want to have to deal with the spider today. Satisfied, you relax holding Dana, letting the warm light of the sun wash away the memories of last night.
What do you do now?
Game Monster
From Creep to Boss
You come into being as a low-level monster, the kind heroes chew through like popcorn. You know the drill, whether you're a player yourself or an artificial intelligence, and you're sick of it. You set out on your own quest: to defeat the heroes at any cost (or at least be an epic boss somewhere down the line).
