The society of C15-B

We reached the base at dusk. On the way, Sonya explained a few basic things about C15-B.

About half of the planet was covered in water. There was a large continent surrounded by several islands. The continent was divided into three areas. Women were housed in the west and men in the east. Each area had a central district from which the prisoners could organize themselves. In between was a nearly 50-mile zone - the jungle - where several clans had settled, disapproving of the prevailing conditions and fighting in ever-changing alliances against the districts and against each other. The clans had taken large areas in the past. In the end, the more members a group had, the more power they had over the others. That's why both the districts and the clans sent out hunters after every new 'delivery'wave - to get as many prisoners as possible into their ranks.
There were short of 200,000 prisoners on C15-B at the moment. New inmates were always dropped near the central district and had to adapt to the existing society. In the districts you were collected as a ****. In principle, you were the property of society, you had no rights of your own and no property. You could gradually work your way up in society.

After a few hours we reached the base. Behind a 20-foot-high wall that could be monitored and defended at each corner from a tower, we came to a three-story building. Next to it, about 20 cages were set up. These measured about six feet in length, width and height.

"We sleep in there," Diana pointed to the house, "and you sleep over there" - so in the cages ...
