Chapter 19

What will you see inside the temple? Will you be able to organize the defense of the temple?
The situation in the interior of the temple is difficult.
You quickly run to the stairs.
Furious screams, the roar of breaking wood, the howl of a wolf, the whistle of flying arrows and the sounds of blows from melee weapons reach your ears...
The noise of the battle increases.
A crowd of forest monsters increasingly fills the streets of the village.
They begin to storm the temple...
You quickly descend the stairs into the interior of the temple.
Inside, you see a group of peasant militia preparing to defend themselves.
It is not difficult for you to understand that near the central entrance the satyrs are trying to remove the barricade that is blocking the double-leaf entrance door.
The grinding and loud sound of breaking wood...
One of the door leaves is broken by something... something big...
The door is partially broken!
Through the broken double door, you can see the silhouettes of enemy bodies. Their eyes burning with hatred and lust for ****.
Several extremely fast silhouettes quickly run through the gap in the door into the building.
Wolves.
Ordinary wolves.
Satyrs use these predatory beasts as tools for reconnaissance. Or tools to weaken the enemy.
One wolf rushes at you, trying to bite your hand near the wrist. His fangs are extremely close...
Thanks to your reaction speed and your hunting experience, you manage to make a quick kick. You kick your right foot as hard as you can into the wolf's stomach.
The wolf flies to the side due to the **** of your blow.
Your hands make quick movements that are the result of years of training. You snatch an iron tipped arrow and you place the arrow on the string of your war bow.
Quick shot!
The wolf you kicked away is pierced through. An arrow pierced the stomach of this predatory beast. The wolf lies on the wooden floor and slowly dies in agony, bleeding streams of blood.
Simultaneously with the attack on you, the wolves that ran inside the building are attacking the militia peasants.
One of the wolves manages to bite the leg of a peasant militia armed with a carpenter's axe. This bearded peasant guy is trying to swing an ax to kill the beast. Unsuccessfully... The militiaman is clearly not very dexterous. The wolf continues to clench its jaws...
The fangs pierce deeper and deeper into the wound on the peasant’s leg.
The blood is dripping more and more abundantly.
A couple of seconds later, another militiaman impales the wolf's head with a pitchfork. The beast's body falls to the floor. Other militiamen are dragging aside a peasant wounded in the leg. They bandage his wound.
You see a couple of peasant militia run up to the hole in the door and attack the enemies who approach the door from outside the building with long spears.
Furious screams of pain reach your ears.
Probably the spears hit their target.
You quickly look around.
A dozen peasant militias defend the central entrance to the building. The rest make sure that enemies do not sneak into the temple from other sides (for example: if enemies destroy the barricades and climb into the building through the windows).
You hear someone talking to the militiamens - phrases spoken in a frightened voice reach your ears: “If we stay here, we will all die a terrible ****! We need to escape from here! There are too many enemies! I know how to get out! If you go down to the basement, then..."
You move closer to a group of peasant militias.
Frightened people listen to someone you already know.
The same guy who ran away from the archers' position on the roof speaks to them.
Cowardly peasant archer. The last survivor of the four peasant archers who were supposed to defend the temple building.
This coward is clearly trying to convince the rest of the militia that they need to flee.
And, unfortunately, the situation only favors the fact that his words can have a fatal effect on the morale of the militia.
You realize that if he convinces the militia group that resistance is unnecessary, there will be a mass stampede. If this happens, it is most likely that everyone will die. Both militiamens and civilians.
Enemies will simply take advantage of their advantage in numbers and mobility. It is much easier and safer to kill running frightened people than those who are defending themselves.
Therefore, you quickly approach this coward.
You grab his shoulder and turn him around to face you.
You see the face of a human who is scared almost to the point of uncontrollable panic. This is a young guy. He is probably about 22 years old (or a little over). The shaggy brown hairstyle reaches just above the shoulders. His gray eyes express an **** degree of nervous tension and horror.
He looks at you blankly.
His mouth opens. He probably wants to say something.
Your next steps...
