Chapter 5 by ErisAphrodite ErisAphrodite

Which did Xalendra like best?

The ring.

“I suppose the ring looks nice,” Xalendra said to the shopkeeper.

“Ah, but of course,” he replied, grinning once again. “It is a special little trinket, I must say. Acquired through the eastern raids, it was a gift from a warlord to his favorite mistress. She ended up leaving him, and through a series of trades, it has come into my possession. I have no use for it, but I'm certain you will. That is, if you have... ten gold coins?”

Xalendra wasn't familiar with the prices of such goods, but she thought it sounded reasonable, and so she paid the man and took the ring.

“Many thanks for your business!” he shouted as she left. The princess marveled at the shiny ring as she wandered back the way she came.

When trying to fit it on her finger, she found it wouldn't slide past the second knuckle. The thing was too small! She let out a disappointed sigh, but still thought it was pretty. Not ten paces later she noticed an odd sensation emanate from the hand hat bore the ring—one that sent a shudder all along her arm, especially in the one finger.

It lasted a moment, and so she dismissed it, but soon there came another frisson-filled spasm as she made her way through the crowd. She stepped aside to inspect her hand, and it stopped. Xalendra stared with a skeptical frown, but eventually lowered her hand again. When the shudder came once more, she immediately brought it back up to notice the gem inside her ring seem to glow a faint light, before dimming back to its regular state.

Unsure of what to do, she clutched the hand with the ring to her bosom, and not a heartbeat later it buzzed again, making her hand vibrate. Her blue eyes went wide as she felt the ring against her breast, and she gasped, finding the sensation pruriently thrilling. She knew she ought not act so oddly in public, but she had a hard time removing the hand from her chest. When she finally did, she stepped father aside, slipping behind a little stable to compose herself.

She was stunned—the ring she bought was special indeed. What it did, she wasn't quite sure, but so far it had an effect on her that she was curious about—shamefully curious, especially here in town. She thought she could just head back to the castle to inspect the ring in private, but then as it buzzed again, she felt the urge to once more press it to her body.

Did Xalendra resist the urge?
