The rest of Friday-part two

Jade entered the living room. "Tada." Then spinning on the spot to show off her new look. "What do you think. Raven coloured hair suit me?"

"I got to hand it to you John. Nice idea. It looks really good on you Jade. With any luck no one will recognise you now." Steven took Jade's new look in.

"Thanks Stevie. I'll miss my blonde, but until things blow over, I'm dying my hair to stay hidden."

"Good job you didn't put a tenner on me surprising your there mate. I'd be a bit richer. Can't believe that you didn't know. With what you can do now."

"Like I said mate. I'm not going to **** my powers. Going down that road could destroy everything we love. Everything that I am. I can't betray dad's memory like that. Or the rest of my family, you, and most of all, Ellen. I was given this to help protect the world, not destroy it." Then with a smile. "But you didn't have to buy the hair dye for Jade. I could have done that myself if Jade asked me to."

"I wanted to do something for Jade so she could go out mate. Besides, where would it leave us if we all started to rely on you and your powers. I'm your friend, and I'm not going to **** that friendship by asking you to use those powers for anyone's benefit. What kind of a friend would I be if I done that. Use them when you have to. Not because others ask you. Even those who believe in god will tell you it's rare that he answers their prayers."

Jane looked up at John. "You've had too many joints. That was rather philosophical of you."

Jade then interrupted. "Enough of the deep meaningful stuff. Where we going for dinner? I can't wait."

"I'm not telling you. Got a table booked for Seven. Trust me. You'll love it." Steven then pulled John out the living room back to the kitchen.

"Where you taking her? I won't tell. I've still got to take Ellen out somewhere yet, and can't decide where to take her."

"I'm taking her to that new Indian restaurant in the south of the city. I hear the place does some awesome food."

"Good idea mate. Jade loves Indian. None of us have had one for ages."

"Tell you what. I'll ask if Jade wants to make it a double date or not. You can take Ellen out tonight too."

"I don't want to intrude. Besides, I'm still being looked for by the police remember. If someone recognises me that'll spoil everyone's night."

"Then dye your hair too. There looking for a blonde guy and girl."

Steven laughed at his friends persistence. "You're not gonna give in on this are you?"

"Steve. You have got to be blind as a fucking bat not to see how much that girl loves you. You can see it in her eyes every time she looks at you. And I see the same in your eyes to her as well. It's not a coincidence that you met the way you did. Fate brought you both together. Dye your hair and take her out."

"Ok John. You're right. If Jade is ok with it and Ellen likes Indian then, I'll take you up on that offer."

"I'll speak to her now. You go back to your girl." He then raised his voice. "Jade, can I ask a favour." Steven then we went back to be with Ellen. John spoke to Jade about making their night a double date to which she agreed to without any questions. She liked Ellen instantly and happy to have another couple with them to make it a more fun night. Steven asked Ellen if she liked Indian and was relieved to find out that she did. Providing it wasn't too spicy.

The afternoon went quietly and soon the evening was upon them. Steven didn't dye his hair he just changed it and made it longer. Now both he and Jade were a raven head, although Ellen preferred his natural hair colour, it was necessary for them to have a better chance to go out and not be bothered by anyone. Steven and John dressed casual but smart. While the girls decided to glam up for the night. They both wore a black dress. Jade's came to mid thigh but as Ellen didn't bring anything to go out in, she had to borrow as dress from Jade. owing to Jade being 2 inches shorter than Ellen. Ellen's was showing quite a bit of thigh. When it was time to leave and go for their meal, John got in his car with Jade up front with him. Steven and Ellen in the back. Instead of going through the city centre they avoided most of the traffic by taking the A14 and M11 route to go south of the city, and arrived earlier than expected. This gave them time to have a drink in the building before being shown to their table.

"I haven't had an Indian for ages John. This place looks really good from the outside." Jade was delighted at the choice. She then turned to John and jumped towards him and gave him a cuddle and a big kiss. "Thank you. I couldn't have wished for a better surprise food wise."

"Thought you might like it. I hear good things about this place. I'm hoping that it's gonna be the best one you've had."

Steven then held his hand out to Ellen. "May I escort you in?" His humorous tone didn't go unnoticed

"By all means kind sir." Ellen replied. Continuing the joke. They all headed in. They decided not to have anything to drink and waited for their to become available first. They didn't have a long wait. Poppadum's for starters to share around was decided before they even walked through the door. Right through the entire meal, starter to main course, they made small talk. Each finding more about each other as the night went by. Owing to the fact that the darker lighting in most Indian restaurants and the different hair colour that Steven and Jade had. The night went by as smoothly as they could have hoped for. No one seemed to notice them. By the time they had finished they had plenty to eat full to the brim. John, having to drive, had to make do without the ****. Opting not to have a desert, they stayed for a while and finished their drinks, before settling the bill for the table. It was on the way back things didn't go quite so smooth. As it was now just after 9. John drove through the city as it was now the quicker option with less traffic. But John unfortunately was going faster than he realised and was pulled over by a traffic officer. John wound his window down, undone his seatbelt, and slid himself onto the edge if the window in a seating position. Then addressed the officer. "Evening officer. What's up?" The officer was put at ease knowing he wasn't going to have a hard time.

"You know you was doing 40 in a 30 mile per hour zone?"

"How long have I been in a 30 limit?"

"Just over a mile know sir."

"I'm so sorry officer. I didn't see the road sign. "How much the fine gonna be. I've just taken my girlfriend, her brother and his girlfriend out to that new Indian and really don't want anything spoiling the night."

"You have company with you. Ok. please sit back in your car sir." The officer the shone his torch and looked at the other occupants of the car. "I hope you all had a good meal this evening." They all agreed it was, and they wasn't lying. "That's good to know. However there is something familiar about you." And he then focused hid torched on Steven. All of them fearing he recognised him from the nightclub. "Yeah. I recognise you now. Your the kid that got that reward for saving a baby's life. Well I never thought I'd meet an actual hero." He then moved back and refocused on John. "I think considering your company, I can look this over this one time. On your way kid." The officer then went back towards his car. John called him back. When the officer returned, John handed him a £20 note.

"That's a thank you from me. I really appreciate it."

The officer took the £20 note and shook John's hand " I'll sit here and let you have 5 minute head start on me kid just in case you accidentally go over the speed limit again." He then waved John on.

Relieved they only had to deal with what they did they all laughed about it on the way back to Steven's home. Until John had an idea. "Why don't we stop and make more of a night of it."

Jade was first to respond. "Tell you what guys. Let's go back to mine. Then go to the local pub instead. You can have a drink too then John."

"Sounds good to me. How about you guys." John asked Steven and Ellen. They both agreed to make a night of it.
